Pourman 06-03-2008 11:33 AM

Phil , LMK when this is etched in stone ;) ... I'm coming back for sure :)

darthrotary 06-03-2008 11:49 AM

COOL! WE need solid dates for to start the early bird registration thread!

Herblenny 06-03-2008 01:43 PM

I'm not waiting to hear back from Natahala and how we are going to do the registration. I'll let you know when the registration opens..

I'm going to make the tier discount with both event registration and lodge registration..

Those who commit early will get the biggest discount and register late will pay BIG!! J/K..

The problem next year will be lodge. This past event, we filled up the lodge 100% and few people had to stay somewhere else.... the event is getting bigger and bigger.. so, make sure to register early... It helps me, it will help you, and helps the lodge.

Pourman 06-04-2008 02:07 PM

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88...hreadsucks.jpg .... Hahaa , J/K ;)

Terrh 06-09-2008 12:07 AM

I LOVED the venue this year. The parking lot(s) could have been bigger but I was more than happy with my cabin. The road sucked but next year either it'll be better or I'll take advantage of the shuttle service.

I think I'll be out there this fall, or maybe sooner.. a temporary move to northern GA may be in my future.. we'll see what the future holds.

orion84gsl 06-09-2008 06:10 PM

I'll be sure to book those days off with my possible new employer. Can't wait to hit the gap again. We absolutly must do another midnight run.

I was very impressed with the lodge and the cabins. To put it short I was expecting motel quality. We got 5 star resort quality. Would love to use the same location if we can all fit. Fortunatly I was one of the few with a decent ride height so I had no problems with the climb up. Can't say the same for the others that I heard smacking their bumpers off the larger bumps and pavement breaks.

Ian 06-14-2008 11:39 AM

Yup. I'm starting to save up again and try a second attempt at the same time to the Keys!

See you guys next year.

Ian 06-16-2008 01:35 PM

Wow that picture is cool. More reason to go!

Just as long as we don't get burnt like we did at daytona beach!!

Max777 07-01-2008 11:39 PM

I would love to go to DGRR, but I dont know about the reservations. I could just sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag if anyone has some spare room, otherwise, I guess I can camp out?

Gas is gonna be tight coming all the way down there, and I'm only a senior in H.S.

darthrotary 07-31-2008 03:24 AM

I went to the keys right after the Dragon last year for a weekend, then back to Miami to fly to Amsterdam for 4-20 ;) Sounds like the plan is on again. So, down for another trip down there. Ha and my name is Ian so I was like, wait, whut? but ya, Im down!!

You can add a Chris to the maybe list. Most likely in fact, since money and time won't be so tight this time around.

Pourman 08-13-2008 11:03 AM

Herblenny 09-04-2008 10:01 PM

Guys... I hate to say this but I'm still working on the details..

as most of you know, things are different now then last event..

gas is more expensive and hence some of these places are being difficult.... Nantahala Village was super cool to us last time but now, they are being difficult and changed their general manager and their owner Lucy is being difficult....

Now I'm talking with Fontana Village as their management has changed and they really want us to come... I'm working out few details to this.... I think in some ways, Fontana is better as gas is more likely to go back up by the time we hit DGRR 2009... I'll make my decision by End of OCT!

Herblenny 09-04-2008 10:02 PM

Regarding the date... thats posted on RCCD...

Pourman 09-05-2008 12:49 PM

Wow , just looking at the Fontana website , their accommodations are WAY more expensive than Nantahala Village , for the same type of cabins :ack2: ... keep us posted

VR8 09-07-2008 06:57 PM

Maybe we'll have better conversations with Nantahala after BOTD this month. Face to face convo's are always more telling. We'll see if they like rotarheads or maybe they just want to lose car clubs all together.

djmtsu 09-08-2008 06:49 AM

Actually Fontana can be cheaper, if they give the discounts they did previously.

Also it is so close to the Dragon, but the cabins aren't as nice. Not that they are bad or anything. I felt like I couldn't touch anything at the cabin this year. It was super nice, and apparently owned by an individual, and not Nathalla.

Wherever Phil!! I don't care, I'll be there.

Herblenny 09-08-2008 08:21 AM

Problem with Nantahala is that it has its limitation... And I've yet to get a call from them (10 days now).

Also, since our event is bit more rushed (packed 2 day event), I know shorter distance to the Dragon is a plus!! Especially we don't know what the gas price will be.

One thing I could tell you is that Fontana is trying their best to accommodate us. They been fast about getting information I've asked and they have agreed to everything. Only problem is that the date I've requested there is another event going on... A knife convention.

Regarding discounts, they are willing to do the same tier discount I've done at Nantahala. Which is if you book early they will give deep 20%, 15, 10, and nothing towards the end..

I'm still debating and wanting to hear back if Nantahala is going to accept my bid for food pricing and how I want the food to be handled. If they don't call back by this wednsday (about 2 weeks), I'm going to drop Nantahala all together.... and go with Fontana and see what happens... Again the problem is Nantahala Village going back on their words.... BIG problem!! if you ask me.

Well shit, then I guess we can't fight them for the spot :( haha

Whizbang 09-08-2008 08:48 AM

unless we work a deal with the gun convention.

We'll see.. I think all will work out.. I'll find a way..

inthetwisties 09-08-2008 11:38 AM

im in for my first rotary run!!

Pourman 09-20-2008 11:33 AM

Any word on the Lodging yet ??

Herblenny 09-20-2008 06:02 PM

Not yet.. But things are looking like its going to be Fontana..... I'll let you guys know after 7stock.. I need to consult with some people..

87turbo_turtle 09-20-2008 06:26 PM

Phil if you could please get us this event. I understand if it does not work. But David and I have been dying to go for 2 or 3 years now and have not had the money. This year we have the money.

Herblenny 09-21-2008 01:32 PM

Well, the big problem is that I'm trying to make it so we will all do dinner, lunch, dinner together... And also to help people save money. But by the look of things, next year will be tough for a lot of people. I'm still trying but I might just make it so its one day thing vs. 3 day thing. Also this will allow people to stay where they perfer to stay and eat where they would like to eat... And lower the registration fee also...

I'll let all of you and I'm trying to make it so everyone will be happy:)

djmtsu 09-21-2008 02:20 PM

Even if it is a one day event, I will be there for 3 days.

I hope Fontana will honor a price deal either way.
