to add to MotoTek, Jon asks for 50% deposit + VAT...

To_Slow 03-24-2009 07:24 AM

Last i heard it will be like 3 more weeks till its done and ready for shipping...

zonblitz 03-24-2009 08:56 AM

I'd like one but I don't have deposit money yet... In a few weeks I will though.

I am interested in this rack. Especially the solid mount rack. What kind of steering angle does this rack have compared to stock? Is the thread pitch of this rack the same as the factory thread pitch? This would allow me to use my aftermarket tierods with extra angle built in. Or maybe we can choose custom steering angles before the racks are machined.

Where do I send my deposit?

I just got a car (gene kan's) without powersteering and i'm in the process of locating parts to add it back (if anyone has their powersteering stuff they want to sell, pm me!). On my car it's REALLY hard to turn the wheel when backing out or u-turning and pretty hard to turn the wheel while moving. It's so hard at stop, that I worry about things bending (including my wrists). I'd say it's like 100+ ft lbs., lug nuts torqued to 90lbs are way easier to deal with. I think my wrists would have a tough time through lot's of esses or winding road. Thats with 255 tires in front. The car has been sitting for many years and I just thought about checking the tire pressure (so that might be contributing). So i'm wondering if this rack will make the car significantly easier to turn than a depowered stock rack? ie. close to what a stock non-power steering car would feel like.

Not sure if Jon is taking any more deposits for the group buy, but he can still certainly still make you a rack. I'll found out for you.

I'll have my power steering rack for sale here shortly + pump and all the lines. I'm going to be running 285's in the front & 315's in the rear, just go to the gym. :)

lt1_fd3s 03-28-2009 06:54 PM

has it been decided that there will be only one version? with the mounts? or are there going to be two versions? one with and one without mounts?

MotoTek 03-28-2009 07:57 PM

I don't see why he'd make two. Solid mounts will create better clearance for everyone.

MotoTek 03-31-2009 11:34 AM

Guys, I still haven't spoken with Jon. It seems he's given Gordon a delivery date of with-in the next 2-3 weeks.

There seems to be 3 more interested people, so if all fails to get in on this GB, you should have a little under what you'd need to start a new one.

lt1_fd3s 03-31-2009 06:23 PM

I emailed Jon earlier today and I just got this reply:

Hiya

I will email Gordon about this separately....but they are finished and will be with me on Friday. So I hope to get them out of the door on Monday to everyone...should only be a couple of days then!

Yes if you want to let the others know that they will qualify for the discount, providing they get in touch and order prior to me sending out the current batch J

Any news from Jon?

gmonsen 04-08-2009 08:49 AM

My rack was supposed to have been shipped Monday, but I have not been able to confirm that with Jon. He's not answering his phone and not returning my emails. Usually, this kind of thing means that there has been another delay, but I hope not, as I am hoping to get to the Deals Gap and Jon has my stock rack, which he used to make sure the LHD version was correctly designed.

quick, someone loan gordon a rack for DGRR in case the new one doesn't show up! I would offer mine, but I have a feeling it leaks and would get his car messy =[

gmonsen 04-08-2009 04:37 PM

I have had it.

Gordon

MotoTek 04-10-2009 09:11 AM

patiently waiting. :willy_nilly: damn A.D.D.

Gordon, do you mean you have the billet rack? Or just a stock rack you can use?
