Depending on how many people we have for a dyno day will determine how much tuning actually gets done. Generally the dyno days are lots of people. Lots of noise alot of HP pulls and a little tuning... but its determined by how many people there are really. Quote:

Wow.. That's a pretty good downshift u got there. Sorry we didn't make it up there. It wasn't wasted though... I got 6 hours in the garage washing rotors and housings etc..
What year is the Miata? |
You got a Miata? Whaaaaaaat the hell have I missed lately?
|
a friend of mine thinks your car looks "cute" (referring to the pics of it on the dragon)
I had a good laugh, then explained its a fricking quick and all homebuilt... she did not seem to understand the significance of such an accomplishment... i just shook my head and walked away.. J. |

Basically, he went with me to Lime Rock in Sept but pussied out on taking his 1 month old to him 2005 Boxster S out on the track... pussy. So after 6 weeks telling him so, he finally registered for a 3 day long PCA even @ NJMP. 2 Days on Thunderbolt, one day on lightning. He got there late Friday and did some skidpad shit, and braking lessons, and things like that. Thunderbolt he had a blast on. Too tight and technical for me, I prefer Lightning. Didn't stop me from KICKING HIS ASS THOUGH! The next day at Lightning I was driving solo and loving it. I lapped his ass more than a few times. But after the second session he got back to the pits and was white as a ghost. He told me that coming ou of the lightbulb he went to give someone a point-by and as he leaned out of the window (he was on the wrong side of the track anyway) he pulled the wheel and the the left tires hit the dirt. Not a big deal because NJMP does a GREAT job of providing TONS of runoff, BUT the dumbass instructor grabbed the wheel to bring him back on the tarmac. After what he described as 3 or 4 back and forths with the instructor and the car, it finally ended up skidding backwards across the track and he almost got broadsided. And he poo'ed himself. THe next 2 sessions he took it easy, and on the last session they bumped me to the advanced group where I was hunting down and passing turbo Porsche's GT3's, and there was a Viper out there that I wanted SOOOOOO bad. BUT my wheel bearings had other plans and the car left on a flatbed. So between him almost hitting the wall and my car leaving via tow-truck, he decided he didn't want to do this in his Porsche anymore. So we're taking a '92-95 Miata and building it. I originally wanted to do an REW swap with a GT35r and a .7 hotside, but he pussied out. Something about the 400hp in my car making him poo himself, having that in a Miata would cause the loss of all bowel restrcitions, so instead we're going with a 4-port REW engine and ITB's. Should still get 200+ wheel and be a terror on the track. Paint it flat black and go to war. He just needs to get off his ass and get the fucking car! Quote:
Women.... |
so he doesn't even have the car yet... Sad. An NA REW makes me sad lol...
|
Nope, net yet.
Ya know what makes me sad..... one RE making more power than two Renni's No wait.... that makes me happy  |

I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since this thread was bumped.... shameful.... oh well.... lots has changed with the car, no more twins, lots more power, This happened and then a few months later on a road trip to visit a friend and help him with his car who without mine wouldn't have made DGRR last year, the tranny puked.... so I put her here.......
http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1389413590 Yes.... she's actually running Jeff.... warming up before I pulled her out a few weeks ago to clean out the Annex in prep of storing a different car. http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1389413590 At the Track!!!!! http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1389413590 Who's that handsome Devil about to tear it up in an 8? http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1389413590 |
Needs an automatic so you quit breaking your toys. :bottom:
|
BAH! NEVA! More gears because MOAR! Whenever I get around to cracking the tranny open we'll hopefully figure out what the cause of failure was and decide if it's worth sticking with the S1 tranny or moving on to the S2 tranny.... either way though something needs to be done and I've got the bombproof S5TII tranny sitting in the 'vert just waiting incase it's needed... I'll dyno the car with the TII trans though as the 6-spd won't be repaired by then...
|
Or find a S2000 and swap the ends. Heard they are all the same center sections. How true that is I don't know.
|
When Glenny did the clutch in his S2k he sent me a pic of the tranny, they are not the same at all. Same manufacturer, same family, but VERY different externally. Bellhousings are totally different as well.

Seriously Brian, get some more pictures up of this dirty girl.. J. |
 Will do... she is a fucking FILTHY whore... I didn't get a chance to give her a bath before she went into the shop for the winter.... oh well.... maybe a wipe down is in order... we'll see....
So I'll get some pics up but here's where we stand with this bitch... she's on jackstands and I dropped the tranny to take it to Speed1 yesterday when I went out to tune a car... It lasted longer than most people though... I figure there's about 25,000 miles on this trans at around 400rwhp with REPEATED 1st gear clutch drops, highway runs, track days etc etc etc.... it held up pretty well I feel. Ever since June 2012 when the thing separated and lost all it's oil @ 143mph on the front straight @ LRP, it's been getting worse and worse. A hub finally over extended and the springs and balls popped out. The result was a chipped 3rd gear, a dented 5th geat, all the syncro's are kinda worn, the input shaft bearing is FUCKED and all the forks are worn pretty good. So with 86 Days remaining..... I start looking for a new tranny.... actually 2... because you're only as good as your backup :) So if anyone knows of an S1 tranny kicking around.... lemme know.... Hopefully I'll get a few hours tonight to work on the bitch a little bit, there's some fabrication to finish up in the engine bay, the exhaust, and the entire interior needs to be stripped out as well..... |
