I just bought some soft struts. I am about to also buy a set of ET streets. Maybe my 60 foot will come down and the car will go faster.

Congrats to Mike on the 10.6 pass. We are all fortunate to make it home with all apex seals intact!

Yes Bryan!!! Go get that shit painted and it will be worthy of me posting it on Youtube.. Make sure to get it painted Lightning Yellow... like my 8 :)

estevan62274 06-01-2009 05:33 PM

Good runs Mike! Thanks for videos Phil!

I wish i was able to go.
Steve

Herblenny 06-01-2009 05:37 PM

There is another one of these in Nov... I'll most likely go if the weather is cooler :)

Herblenny 06-01-2009 05:57 PM

Alright Bryan... Just time time... Next time it has to be clean and painted for me to take pics and video :)

Bryan@BNR 06-01-2009 06:24 PM

Thanks for posting that up phil. Should have got my burn out in there:D. That was a 2nd gear burn out...

damn I need to work on 1st to 2nd gear! I wish I would have kept my foot on the gas on the 1-2. I would have not bogged. Next time I will have a 1.4x 60 ft, not no freakin 1.8 bs on ET Streets. Crap for suspension kept that car from going faster.... Next step is a 10 second pass.

11.6x at 122 20 1.79 ............. street 4 loss vs. 650rw 300zttnosauto

First two wins were driver error which is half of racing! :D Brad in the 300 races at the track every weekend. Better suspension I think I can catch him with everything the same. But that will be next time!! I had fun and I appreciate HDP letting me use his ET streets. Have to get some...

Caim 06-01-2009 06:41 PM

It was really good to meet all of you guys... i hate that my car is slow. hahahaha.

sk8world 06-01-2009 08:10 PM

sounds like everyone was happy. Phil took the win in the show, Brian sounds happy with the 11's (for now) Don drives like an old lady, I will never be a bracket racer....

I am really thinking of a 2 step not only to get faster times but be more consistent on 60 footers. On my 10.6 pass it was a 1.65 60. If I could have pulled a 1.45 on the same pass and not had to get off the throttle in 4th I would have been looking at a 10.2-3 time slip....

Bryan@BNR 06-01-2009 09:12 PM

well when you look at the whole picture I guess I have to be happy. The 1g has been parked in the same place for 2 years in the shop. What more can you ask for when you bleed the brakes, replace the battery and put it on the track. I didn't change plugs, or change oil. Just turned the key lol. It didn't even hickup on any pass. I should have beat on it a little harder but atleast I won some money. I think I may quit my job and race for reward money.

Do it.... I will follow you around and rent you tires....LOL....

Ok. Don after reviewing your logs I see several issues you had. This log was at 1pm that should be the second pass but may have been the first.

1. there was a boost issue. Your pass shows good peak boost but seems to come on very slow. 1st gear only hit 15.5psi then you let off the throttle and slowly shifted at 7400. By the time you went back on the throtle the rpms went back down to 4500! 2nd gear peaked at 20.5psi but again you shifted "slowly" at 6500 then rpms droped back to 4400! 3rd gear boost peaked at 23.2psi! but again you slowly shifted at 6600prm. 4th gear peaked at 23.6psi!!! Boost was not held steady on any gears but was up and down. If you were to have pulled each gear to 8k and made the shifts quick it would have been completly differant.

Now on your next log at 2pm had serious boost issues. You did MUCH better on pullying the rpms closer to redline. However boost stayed low and didnt hit 1 bar in first gear. 2nd gear hit 1bar not until 6800rpms?? 3rd gear not until 6500, then boost was down and up peaking around 1.1bars.

So over all there was something going on on that second pass. Not sure if you changing the transition points did that or what. I would go back to the settings Ray made and not change them.

Bryan@BNR 06-02-2009 10:40 AM

I know this is off subject kinda but I think their street car rules should change. The winner of the street event had a full blown race car with lexan windows. The so called muffler was just a 3" long piece in his dump pipe. He probably didn't have any working lights, or turn signals. Absolutely no one else in the street class had anything similar to this.

I am glad my friend sam took his winnings at the last IFO down in LA by beating him off the light. Serves him right.

Maybe I should get a RX3, backhalf it. Put a jerico in it with a PP turbo 20b. Run it with the widest ET streets and run it in the street class so I can slaughter the class...

I just emailed Cliff Walace, one of the IFO guys about this. He read my post on the other forum and contacted me. He wanted to know why the track workers screwed up by pairing us the way they did. I may be getting $$ for semi or r/u spot for the mistake.... I gave him my thoughts on Darren (white diamond star). I bet he drives it to the grocery store all the time... Whats even worse is he was quicker than the cars in the outlaw or whatever they called the top class. So he could have still took home the $$ if he raced in the riught class..

Bryan@BNR 06-02-2009 01:38 PM

well the payout was less for the quicker class. I won those 2 first races by not missing shifts. I'll be at the next one ready for some real good 60's. I'll probably blow up next time hehehe.

It is piss poor class running a race car in the street class. Its makes both the IFO and the racer look like total cheats. You don't bring a gun to a sword fight. I bet you that DSM was also running either 100% methenol or alky as well. Those fuel lines were huge.

sk8world 06-02-2009 05:14 PM

This is what IFO had to say:

The white DSM has been racing IFO for years now and has always been within the Street class rules. yes, it's towed to the events and not daily driven, but those are not requirements for the IFO street class. Relaxed rules and tech is one reason IFO has grown year after year while all other Import drag circuits have either filed for bankruptcy (nopi), bailed out on the import dividision (NHRA) or reduced their schedule locations (BOTI) Don't expect the rules to change any time soon. Tedious little rules on interior, glass, wipers, etc for such small gaines is not worth the tech trouble and chance for racers to protest over a few lbs. Oem frame, muffler, and dot tires are close enough and have worked for the series since 2001. He's a lot faster this year because of the new turbo setup/sponsorship, not because of the interior/glass weight reduction.

Sounds like Darren (dsm car) has set his car up with these rules in mind were the rest of us are just local racers. I guess it sounds fair?

Haha. That was what I was going to do with your RX3. To be honest I need a good truck. I think the REPU I would need more than another car. My syclone just won't tow much.

Mike. I think we should have all said we would not race with the eclipse in our class. If there isn't any competition, IFO wouldn't have been interesting at all... Then they would probably be pushed to move him up to the class he needs to be in.

This is what people complain about in AutoX all the time, like why did my non stock seat or steering wheel move me up a classs. IMO rule are there to be followed if you break them then you move up a class. Either build your car to that classes rules or find a new class. Doesn't matter if it effects performance very much, alot of little increases equal a big increase, if that makes since.

Yes, that was the run I unplugged the hose from the BC. I knew I had logged that run. So what area of the log were we looking at Monday? I think the slow shifts were from letting off because of the hesitation and sputtering. Did you look at the AFR for that run? I think I saw 9.xx on my gauge.

sk8world 06-03-2009 01:24 PM

I will go back and look at the first log but the biggest issue I saw was the way early and very slow shifts.

sk8world 06-04-2009 11:34 PM

good news for me. IFO agreed there was a mistake in the 2nd round elimination and I was paired wrong so they are sending me a check for semi final payout. Better than nothing although I most likely would have been runner up..

Thats cool Don, You made out very well. Between the rental and first round payout. So I am ready for some more 1/4 action. There is a fun event in Indy coming up in July but not sure on the distance nor the facted its July 5th weekend. Next event I have down to run is SFS event in Oct. Then IFO Nov. 1st. Need something for Aug. and Sept.???????????????????????????????????????

JyRO 06-09-2009 04:32 PM

Phil,

I forgot ... I brought that bag of assorted clips to IFO for you. I still have them. Maybe we can meet up for a PFC "test & tune" session, and I'll give you the clips then. I'm still in the process of procuring the PFC. I'm skeptical about paypalling that much money sight-unseen.

Herblenny 06-09-2009 10:36 PM

Jason,

I wouldn't worry about sending payment via paypal... and yeah, when you get it let me know and we'll meet up.

Mike, Don, and Bryan.. I found this video...

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/S...ort_687867.htm

Nice quality and Mike's first race is capture in the beginning...

HDP 06-10-2009 10:13 AM

Thanks Phil!

sk8world 06-10-2009 12:19 PM

Nice find. Watch it again and look at my car start pulling towards the wall towards the end. I was glad to see it on tape. I had almost 2 psi more pressure in the passenger side tire. I guess around the 100+mph area is were it started to play a big roll.

sk8world 06-10-2009 12:25 PM

is it just me? Cant see past the first 5 minutes?
