You're still in a better position than I am.....
|
Minor set-backs I've had recently:
The "painter" that sat on my car for 9 months and never started it occasionally like I had asked apparently never did and fried the battery using a jump box. I bought a new battery a few weeks ago. . Then starter went went south too! I had to push start the car to get it home a couple weeks ago! I got a replacement starter since mine was under warranty but that one wasn't any better than the one I took off (The battery was fully charged). Like DJ said "If it ain't one thing, its another." Although it would work most of the time it would just click. . click. click and never engage when I turned the key on other tries. The guys at the auto parts store were reluctant to replace it since it tested good on their fancy machine. . . Anyways I got the new one on and it works great! Since I've replaced the battery I've noticed that the volt meter was lower than usual. This may explain why it took so long for my battery maintainer to completely charge the battery. While I was at Advance I had them check the alternator on that fancy machine but it didn't even recognize there was anything attached to it, assuming they didn't know what they were doing I just checked it once I got home after reassembling the car with the new starter. . Sure enough! alternator dead too!!! What a great (expensive) day it was, I feel for anyone that has to replace a 3rd gen alternator because they're freaking expensive! You're looking at around $300 for a replacement! Not what I paid though, I luckily still know people that work for Advance so I got a "hook up", $190 out the door. Still expensive but better that what I was prepared to pay. Anyways, , once all this is over with I hope it's just "check air pressure/rotate tires, apply Auto wrap protective film to front of car and check/top off fluids." like I had planned before. |

Or buy cleanable inline filters. |
So Weather Channel is saying 0-10% chance of rain on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I hope they are telling the truth.

I posted this in my Cosmo thread as well.
Wheels aren't supposed to ship until Tuesday, unless a miracle happens and they ship Monday. I stressed the importance to them, but I'm at their mercy. So, chances are pretty good that the Cosmo won't make it this year. I am pretty crushed about it, but that at least gives me a year to make it look good. It is total rat rod status currently. |
New shoes, washed, clayed, and one coat of wax down. Plugs and oil change and I will be ready!

Blow..... Me.....
:smilielol5: Remind me to yell at you for that clay bar thing..... And I'll give you some real products to try ;) |
What type of products we talking here?

I'm tempted to hook up and bring the empty car dolly. That way I can tow my imaginary car. Besides, someone is bound to break something. It is a Rotary Rally after all. :)
|
Still a small glimmer of hope being able to make it..... They are having the Music City Marathon and they close off roads to my shop.

Recently I just finished:
1. Switching from sillycone brake fluid to hi pro blue with a 500+F boiling temp which means all rubber had to be switched out (MC, rear cyclinders, rebuild calipers) 2. New SS lines all around 3. HAWK pads up front 4. Vented front rotors (new bearings etc) 5. All MOOG steering parts (tierods, idler arms) 6. Adjustable LCA (bad ball joints) 7. Cut one loop off all the springs to lower things another 1/4-1/2 inch 8. Made new rear bump stocks (old ones missing) 9. Replaced fuel filter 10. Alignment And now from sitting at low charge too long while I waited on parts and did all this, a new battery will be procured tonight. Otherwise ready to go to DGRR! Hope I see you guys there this weekend. Theres an OGTA cabin right near the lodge where all the festivities are happening. |

Once i got on the interstate i noticed a tendency to go right (at speed more so) but not as bad as before, even on the left side of the crown... I'm sure the alignment is fine, but maybe I need to start looking at damage or bending, etc. The car had a front accident before I got it, and I replaced the subframe (not for damage but siezed cam bolts) and coilovers. But even then, it didn't start pulling right until AFTER i got the first alignment with R34 guy. Maybe the alignment before was way off to account for a tweaked chassis? Or maybe the steering rack is providing some light input. I don't know, but i'm not too worried about it as the car drives great on the track and i don't drive it much otherwise. :) |
That's fine just bring it back and I'll raise caster on the right side a couple points.... No biggie.
|
radiator installed...
new spark plugs and I'm not touching it anymore for a while... |
Finishing polishing and applying AutoWrap to front end in the morning when off work. :hurray:
|
All pre-trip maintenance is done, and I just finished waxing & detailing the FC. I'm ready to roll, can't wait to hit the road early tomorrow AM! :driving:
