sweet dude, are you doing all the coil tests that day? if so let me know how it goes, ill probably pick up whatever you say is the best that i can use with the PFC

Yeah I deserve that, but you did tell me you were in no rush. When you get in a rush, I'll be on it.

Yeah, maybe a little bit  As short as possible really. I think it'll be difficult to built though because it'll be a female fitting. Meaning the head needs to rotate in order to tighten the seal. Make sense?

You don't have to give me that information if you don't want to, but it will help me in designing the lightest possible adapter for you (assuming aluminum, can also do it for a host of other materials too).

call it 85psi
10lbs' maybe?
AL is fine. I'm not a fan of mixing metals, especially when submerged.

Negatory, need to get the girl back up to speed with the new injectors, pump, and coils. Starting at WG and NS and rolling up to 15psi NS, then turning on the sequentials and rolling that from WG to 15psi. So basically starting from scratch but with a somewhat accurate road map. The software in the MoTeC is incredible. I was talking with one of the engineers making sure I understood something - you can adjust the injector pulse width duty cycle if you will. Meaning if I go from say 4000cc's of flow up to 5000cc's of flow all I need to do is scale the IJPU (they call it) back 25% and it'll be spot of ASSUMING THE INJECTORS BEHAVE THE SAME - dead time, voltage comps etc etc. Becuase I'm changing injectors to some real ones, they will behave differently at certain voltages and pressures. So while I can get the scaling correct in the fuel map, it'll still be off in certain areas becuase of the characteristics of the injectors.

If you're going in, go balls deep ;) It's only about 20 minutes past my house. Wish I could go. If you guys are leaving early or late enough, we should get together. I'll be working a half day on Sat, 9am to 9 pm, 12 hrs, 1/2 day right? Just like today

Definately, I'd love to pull that girl into my shop late summer early fall. Got a backlog now actually which is good I guess.

Chance favors the prepared ;) I like to get everything lined up too. When it's not, you find yourself touching yourself in the corner waiting on parts. Of course I'm in the opposite boat right now. I've got everthing I need except time. Right now I'm waiting on the tank to cool so I can pressure test it again. With any luck the girl will light off later today. Oddly enough Friday is my day off, yet I'll be going into work tomorrow @ 7am  Hopefully I can get home with enough time to get the tank wired, filler sorted out, straps built, wired and pumping fuel. If the car doesn't start tomorrow I'm going to ask for some time off, this is just getting ridiculous.

you know...idk if i showed you any pictures from deals this year ill just show you a quickie:

Nice, I know that gas station :D

btw - I hate you so much right now ;) I'm done welding, tank is holding pressure so I'm off to bed, actually the couch, I wake up easier when I pass out on the couch. Lemme know about Sat, I give the FC a 50/50 chance of being on the ground running. I sense an allnighter and a day off in the near future.

helghast7 06-11-2010 01:32 AM

coolio! were definetly going, i dont no what time though, i know were meeting up in NYC first then rolling out all at once...theres more info on rx8club that i have to look for

but im definetly going, omar, bangkok, bunch of other peoples, that guy khris with the minty red fd

i no bennys not going since his car is in pieces...again lol, and idk if dennis is going since i dont think he got his car back from the body shop from repairing the damage from when he got hit

What an unreal thread :icon_tup:

Only skimmed through a few pages, will take some time to look over all of it. Keep up the excellent work. :001_005:

helghast7 06-15-2010 02:29 AM

ohh im so fucking happy!!!!!!!!!!!!

made some big numbers, hit my goal on the dot, only thing holding me back from making more is the twins

so do you wana no what it is??? lol

TitaniumTT 06-15-2010 09:14 AM

350 wheel right?

project86 06-15-2010 11:47 AM

After those pics got posted i went for a quickie............:suspect:

350whp seems to be the magic number...:icon_tup:

helghast7 06-15-2010 04:58 PM

close, 359 at 14 psi and 292 lbs of torque

best thing about it though is, my fuel system has plenty wiggle room to go, i think he said it was at about 70% duty cycle.. its just the turbos wont last long on anymore pressure

Dave loved how hard my car pulled, he even tempted me to up the boost haha

long story short, ill have no issues what so ever hitting next milestones power goals once i get there

oh, btw Brian, Dave loved the seats, especially since he had customers tell him theres no way to make them fit :)

my next step is better cooling, either i do what benny was intending on doing now..plus get dual oil coolers

or i do some crazy amount of ducting...and get dual oil coolers lol

so i think you can see where my next step lies hahaha

oh yea, dyno sheets posted soon

Don't worry. I'm still not in a rush about it. I'm actually trying to thin my crap before I move... speaking of which I need to post up a new FS thread with pictures this time around. I'll do that after I post up what I did for you.

It does, but it doesn't really matter since it's a hose fitting on the other end, meaning it can swivel on the hose. So you can make it out of a solid piece of aluminium, which all things considered is dead sexy. ;)

Welp, check out the attachments. I did the analysis and from what I can tell you're no where near yield. I mean you hit 9.something ksi and displace maybe 0.016 inches (i'd have to double check the scale), but this is over kill engineering for you... hmmm... possible new name? :squint:

I'm still not 100% on the dimensions, but it's fully dimensioned which means if you want it in a different size 2 seconds and it's done. How do you like dem apples? About the only other thing I could do to make the results even more accurate is simulate the remote force from an off concentric load (ie COM of the fuel pump just hanging out on the side), but in all honesty it's not going to do much of anything in both displacement and stress on the piece.

Thanks much man, where did you stop? Did you see the pics of the car rotating? Or the rot cut out? Or just hit the end with the fuel cell from hell?

Dave's got a sexy sexy FD for sure.... and yes, I know quite a few Dave's

350? psssssshhhhhhh, 400 or nothing......... next I'll be saying 500 or nothing

Nice numbers indeed. Close to 300ft/lbs is nothing to sneeze at :icon_tup:

You should be able to hit 400 on that fuel system. I like to keep things to ~75% duty but can definately go higher. Last year mine was @ 93% :leaving:

Who told him that? Keyboard jockeys that don't know how to rock a plasma? People crack me up sometimes.... then again I have a knack for stuffing things where they don't belong. My nickname is the Himenator for good reason :smilielol5: Hopefully they were comfy for him, he should be in mine tomorrow. Still need to put the front clip on, dash surround, wipers, stereo, adjust the exhaust system (hangers are too close to the fuel cell) wire up the speed signals, wash the car, yes it will be happening ~3am if I'm lucky, shower and hit the road - REDBULL DON'T FAIL ME NOW! I have three of the big mothers in the fridge

Do it over the winter if ever. It'll give us plenty of time to plan it out, gather parts, we can use my FD for test fitment/mock-up if need be but I'm not a fan of PJ's like that over the summer. I want to be enjoying my FC and working on the XJ although it rarely happens like that. Not to mention I have a backlog till about october which is both good and bad I guess...... and the vert should be here soon too assuming the FC gets a clean bill of health tomorrow, Limerock Thursday, suss out the rear wheel speed sensors and then at some point trade tranny's so the Vert has one and install the wheel speed sensors then the FC is done, till next time.

Don't up the boost though, the turbo's really don't last very long at those levels. Mine are starting to leak/smoke slightly. I'm hoping that it clears up but I doubt it will. I may be in the mkt for a new set very soon :(

That looks awesome T. A little long but year looks fantastic. All the engineering is impressive. in reality though, there will be very little stress on the part as the pump is supported pretty well and not allowed to move much if any at all, I like it:icon_tup:
