Thanks Sean! I cant wait to get going on this thing. It's too bad the mice invaded but I'm gettin it cleaned up. I'm really hoping the car will start coming back together very soon after i move.

Also no problem on your stuff. Thanks for being patient with me. It was fun painting that stuff. I have some of kyles to do this weekend and then his whole car soon to follow. I think I'm gonna talk to the guy here about using his place to paint it:

Well guys after a very long disappearance im back. Army training has had me swamped but im stationed at Ft. Campbell so if there are any rotary friends around here you know where to find me. I dont have my car down here yet. Its still in MT until i get a house and a garage to keep it in.. should be moving out of the barracks soon as i just got married. When things start really rolling again ill get some more progress up on here.

Anyone know of some reliable car shippers i could go through to get the 7 down here?

Great to hear from ya. Congrats on getting married.

Oh man! Thought I was gonna have to dig for this thread. Lucky me! Well I have my car back finally. It's good and bad... Good cause I can tinker bad because I'm supposed to deploy later this year. Anyhow I'll try to make some regular updates and not be such a stranger!

yo! so I put the car on a couple stands last night in hopes to get some hub swapping underway. No such luck because I can't get the brake rotors off. I was hoping someone might have a good way to do this.. I know its really pretty straight forward but they are on there pretty good. The two screws that hold it to the hub are really stuck. Also.. Im wondering if the hubs i have are worth using or if i should try to find some nicer ones. What do you think?

From the looks of it, you're probably at the point of drilling them out. If you have access to a welder you could try cleaning up the head a little bit and welding a piece of metal on there, so you can get hold of it. That may not work either if it's really stuck. I would assume you've already cleaned up any threads showing out the back side with a wire brush and soaked it in penetrating oil.

Impact Driver hammer driven. Some PB blaster can help too.

Any advice on whether or not those hubs are worth a crap?

project86 12-07-2014 03:28 PM

So i just checked mazdatrix... new 5 bolt hubs are $535 each... yuck... is there somewhere else i can get them cheaper?

The hubs will probably be fine once you get the old disk rotor off it.
