[QUOTE=WE3RX7;94754]Have I mentioned I hate you and your awesome fab skills?? Just checking... thats one thing I am not good at - bodywork/fab work. Mainly because I have limited experience with it..[\quote]

Yeah, once or twice. I had no experience when I started either. Looking back at some of the things I built when I first started, they're disgraceful. But practive makes perfect and all that shit. My car was the first car that I ever painted too. Looking at some of the pieces that I painted first, well, they were painted more than once lets just leave it at that ;)

I want to place a bulk order for the parts to save on shipping... but they havent given a realistic timeframe on when to expect parts, so I'll probably just start ordering them separate and hope after the 3rd or 4th order they'll cut me some "slack" for being a repeat buyer so much.. they were awesome when I bought the fenders, but ever since.. not so hot..

If you get that hood to an FG/CF guy, I'd take one if CF tomorrow... and I could pick it up :) We need more east coast fabricators...

Ken seems like a good guy and he puts out a decent product. The one thing that I CANNOT stand is, "Oh yeah, it'll be done in two weeks," and then 6 or 7 later all we have is a rough glassed scoop. Something that should've taken 3 days. Whatever, I'll be surprised if it's ready to be shipped by the end of the year.

Thanks Sean.

I dunno where this shit is coming from. The only thing that I can think of is that I missed it when I cleaned this tank out. That shit is dirt and grit. This is my buddies tank that sat for a year or two, somewhat opened. It also had 2 or 3 holes drilled into the top of it. I dunno. She's on stands right now, I'm going to clean the main filter and the pre-filter again before tomorrows dyno. Should have some numbers, pics, and a vid or two up tomorrow night or sunday morning.. woot!

WE3RX7 08-28-2009 10:51 AM

I've got the vid camera all charged up :)

I hope to practice painting and fab work more in the future, right now, my two car is too tiny, lol...

What are you Running for a fuel pump Brian? Just thinking the impeller might be eating it self, fuel lines could be eating it?

Duffman692002 08-28-2009 09:39 PM

He said 'should' EJ, damn... Give 'em a break, lololol.

Cosmo fuel pump. I found that the short little piece of fuel line in the tank connecting the pump to the fittings ate itself, along with the sock being clogged again as well as the main filter. I grabbed my buddies full S4 TII assembly to snag a sock and that short little piece of fuel line from his.

:banghead: BLAST! You jynxed me!!!!!

So I had a few little things to finish up today, hardwire the GPS, replace a trun signal bulb, little shit. I figure once I get those done I'll clean the filter and the sock again as the Fpsi was down about a pound. I dunno what the fuck I did but I put everything back together and there was like 10-15psi......... limped home and now I've got the tank drained and cleaning the tank, replacing the sock, the little piece of fuel line, I've cleaned that main filter a FEW times with just about everything I can think of as well as blasting fuel through it bakcwards. I think what I may even do is run like five gallons through it backwards, as in hook up the fuel filter in reverse, throw a bunch of gas in the tank and run it through the filter in reverse back into the fave gallon container and then run that through the lawnmower or something..... Every time before I head to Dave's something happens and I'm up almost all fucking night.

You can bet your sweet sweet BAW ass that I'll be pulling that filter once I get to Daves though before she gets strapped down.

Oh, filled the lines with brakeklean and blasted 135 psi of air through those as well and some ..... interesting shit came out. Repeated that until the entire can was spent........ so fucking pissed...... SOOOO FUCKING PISSED!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not an angry person but I think I may have to find a circus midget to rape and then stab in the eye later on tonight

Ugh, that little piece of hose took so long to put on too.

Looks like you may wanna take you tank out and take it to be cleaned, then run all new stainless AN hardlines to and from the tank.

Sounds like it's worse than my car.

The tank is pretty damn clean and has been since I stole it from my buddy. The fuel lines I already replaced with -6AN stainless and I'm not going to be doing that again. I pulled EVERYTHING from the filler to the filter. I found a metric shitton of corrosion on the filler tube and spent a long time with a few scotch brite pads and assorted screwdrivers and picks and cleaned it out the best I could.

The tanks filler was painted on the inside, just the short little section and it was flaking so I scotchbrited that down and then flushed the tank until I could get no more contamanients out of it.

The filter I think I'm going to replace with a pysically larger one. I spent hours cleaning that filter and I'm not convinced that it's clean, or ever will be for that matter. It's fucking epoxy for crying out loud that plugged a 10 micron filter. I think it's fucked forever.

Yeah it was. My dumb ass had to cut the one that was already on there too. I've since chanced that out to a -6 coupler, then a -6 male to 1/4"npt and a 1/4" npt to 5/16" barb. That other fitting was for -6 so it really was the wrong size. Now when the pump sits in place it's about 1/4" below the barb fitting. Can't thank ya enough for your help with that Scott, hopefully next year all these stupid little problems will be gone and we can actually enjoy ourselves.

TitaniumTT 08-30-2009 01:50 PM

So yesterday @ KDR was............... interesting. Bill came up which was really cool and his FE put down some really nice numbers for a bone stock 8, I'll let him fill you in on the details as I was only there for one pull. In my sleep deprived state I got lost on the backroads and ended up driving through cornfields, litterally.

I am now referring to my Most Ungrateful Mistriss as a Dyno Queen. Why you ask? Because every time we go to the dyno, we strap her down and she just sits there, all day, on her thrown doing nothing.
So we strap her down and the conversation with Dave goes like this,
What do ya wanna do Bri?
Obligitory compression test of course.
You really wanna know?
I think so..... if somethings off I'd like to know before we chunk the motor.
Good point, ok lets see what we get.

Front rotor was perfect - 115 on all three faces. Rear was like 120, 120, 120, 120, 88, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 88, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 88, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 125, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 88. Sticking apex seal :banghead: Not every revolution mind you, ever third or forth it would hang up just a touch and miss. The fear Dave had is the seal will get stuck out as it crosses the minor axis and shear off, chunking the entire rear. So we bullshat the rest of the day until it was time to leave, then Dave tells me,
Get this piece of shit outta my shop, I wanna go home and run my dozer  So Bill and I left and had lunch and dealt with all the country bumkin stares and comments as two rotaries pulled into a very locals type place that Dave sent us to for food.

So now the plan is to pull the engine, clamp the int plate to the front plate so nothing shifts in the front, pull the rear rotor and find what we think is a sticking corner seal thats holding the Apex seal up. I do remember when I was clearancing the rotors that one corner seal wouldn't pop up ever time. I moved it to a different corner and the seal was fine, this tells me the recess in the rotor itself is a little off. So I grabbed a different corner seal and tried that. Better, but not perfect. So I worked that recess until I was happy. Apparently not enough. Oh well.... Bill made a good point, it's not a rebuild so we can't call it engine 5, we're calling it 4.5  Hopefully I'll get it done this week and I'll be back @ KDR next Sat :001_005:
