That's all fine and good if you are willing to ruin the lugs. I have the wheel locks keys, I just didn't have them up there when we needed them last time. I don't plan to ruin nice lugs for no reason.

Done both, both have worked.... I've also just torched the lug cherry red and hammered a socket on.... socket still useable too.... next time, look at my 3/8" drive 17mm deep socket

I thought the key was lost.... have you found it?

chibikougan 07-22-2016 03:46 PM

Haha likely look a lot like my bangers fit a 21 at the tip

Well we thought this was a no key sitch...

Never said it was lost. I told you I must have taken it home, which I did. I have two here.

Always love watching that
Sad Tyler sold his FD.

Well it was another weekend of long hours and a lot of work. Once again gotta thank Brian for putting in the unnatural hours with me. Going to sleep at 7am is getting old

Started with glaze and sand, glaze and sand, glaze and sand for what seemed like eternity. Brian and Pete inspected/measured/stacked a short block in the time I spent sanding

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-I...731_025724.jpg

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-f...731_025742.jpg

At the end though the work paid off. Nothing like rubbing your hand (or other appendages :suspect:) accross some freshly 400 grit sanded glaze :o16:

Once again the paint gun was giving us fits. A fresh rebuild kit seemed to make things worse! A wrong parts diagram, two stripped fasteners, a removed seal, and a lot of cussing later we had a functional gun.

With the gun working as it should Brian laid down some more beautiful paint work. Which turned out to be the biggest cock tease ever. More on that later, let's enjoy it while we can.

So why was the paint a cock tease? Because it's the wrong fucking color :(
The shop that painted my car specifically told me the color was called Frozen Grey Metallic from BMW. So that's what we got. Unfortunately it is several shades darker than the paint on the car. BMW also has a color called Frozen Silver Metallic which looks lighter and what I'm guessing is the actual color of the car. Soo ~$400 worth of paint wasted. Not to mention the time and effort. :icon_no2:

At least there will be much less to prep for the next go around. And silver lining pun intended :awesome: Brian and I both really like the Frozen Grey Metallic color so it may appear on something in the future :suspect:

Damn, for the wrong color that looks great! Maybe you should buy more of that stuff and shoot the rest of the car in that color. :suspect:

I'm thinking of buying new parts, gotta price them out first though.... shit gets expensive and I wonder what new guns are selling for these days. I certainly got my use out of that gun in the last 14 years. Three cars, two boats.... and I'm sure I'm forgetting alot of shit... but motherfucking Kyle....

I'm saying this to make you feel better and help you avoid an ass raping in three weeks..... it was a waste from the color onward. Everything else needed to be done.
Having said that, we started with the color at 4am?

Seeing it in one color though.... we can see a few low areas on the passenger side well that we can address now :awesome:

Yeah, looks good!

speedjunkie 08-02-2016 02:28 AM

Ah yes, I've been through being told the wrong color. Although mine was only a front bumper.

That engine bay does look great though. It would look good over the whole car I imagine.

lol, wub you Bri.

speedjunkie 08-02-2016 02:51 AM

Double post. POS computer.

Yes I'm well aware and that was what I meant, still could have gone to bed 3-4 hrs earlier

Pain in the dick it is.

I like the color, but I'm perfectly happy with the current color also. No chance in hell I'm repainting the car

Fendamonky 08-02-2016 09:55 AM

That's looking damn good Mike!!! It makes me seriously consider asking Brian to add engine bay painting to my list of work when mine goes up... :suspect:

Yeah it's a good color, but I totally get that lol.

Did they mistakenly tell you the wrong color, or were they lying? Because I was told it would be Mazda black, then they used Lexus black because they had some left over from painting another guys car but took my money for paint anyway because the owner was a crooked prick that ripped his own mom off for $10k, and that's barely scratching the surface.

I'm not bitter. LOL

It could be either I suppose though this was the first car in matte silver they had done so I doubt it's a similar scenario. I've been less than impressed with their work as time has gone on. The shop is out of business now so who knows :dunno:

That sucks the shop ripped you off with the paint :(
