MotoTek 03-23-2009 11:22 PM

I haven't heard from him in about a week. I'll try contacting him tomorrow, I've been super busy at work and school, and trying to get my motor built.

2% CC Fee
15% VAT but - 10% for discount = 5% VAT
UK£ 690 = 1 004.433 U.S. dollars for the rack itself
$100 give or take $30 for shipping

RX72NR 03-24-2009 02:30 AM

I need a job, this is just up my ally.

lt1_fd3s 03-24-2009 06:22 AM

to add to MotoTek, Jon asks for 50% deposit + VAT...

To_Slow 03-24-2009 07:24 AM

Last i heard it will be like 3 more weeks till its done and ready for shipping...

zonblitz 03-24-2009 08:56 AM

I'd like one but I don't have deposit money yet... In a few weeks I will though.

jgtcspec7 03-26-2009 10:45 AM

I am interested in this rack. Especially the solid mount rack. What kind of steering angle does this rack have compared to stock? Is the thread pitch of this rack the same as the factory thread pitch? This would allow me to use my aftermarket tierods with extra angle built in. Or maybe we can choose custom steering angles before the racks are machined.

Where do I send my deposit?

boost 03-27-2009 10:33 PM

I just got a car (gene kan's) without powersteering and i'm in the process of locating parts to add it back (if anyone has their powersteering stuff they want to sell, pm me!). On my car it's REALLY hard to turn the wheel when backing out or u-turning and pretty hard to turn the wheel while moving. It's so hard at stop, that I worry about things bending (including my wrists). I'd say it's like 100+ ft lbs., lug nuts torqued to 90lbs are way easier to deal with. I think my wrists would have a tough time through lot's of esses or winding road. Thats with 255 tires in front. The car has been sitting for many years and I just thought about checking the tire pressure (so that might be contributing). So i'm wondering if this rack will make the car significantly easier to turn than a depowered stock rack? ie. close to what a stock non-power steering car would feel like.

Not sure if Jon is taking any more deposits for the group buy, but he can still certainly still make you a rack. I'll found out for you.

I'll have my power steering rack for sale here shortly + pump and all the lines. I'm going to be running 285's in the front & 315's in the rear, just go to the gym. :)

lt1_fd3s 03-28-2009 06:54 PM

has it been decided that there will be only one version? with the mounts? or are there going to be two versions? one with and one without mounts?

MotoTek 03-28-2009 07:57 PM

I don't see why he'd make two. Solid mounts will create better clearance for everyone.

MotoTek 03-31-2009 11:34 AM

Guys, I still haven't spoken with Jon. It seems he's given Gordon a delivery date of with-in the next 2-3 weeks.

There seems to be 3 more interested people, so if all fails to get in on this GB, you should have a little under what you'd need to start a new one.

lt1_fd3s 03-31-2009 06:23 PM

I emailed Jon earlier today and I just got this reply:

Hiya

I will email Gordon about this separately....but they are finished and will be with me on Friday. So I hope to get them out of the door on Monday to everyone...should only be a couple of days then!

Yes if you want to let the others know that they will qualify for the discount, providing they get in touch and order prior to me sending out the current batch J

To_Slow 04-07-2009 05:54 PM

Any news from Jon?

gmonsen 04-08-2009 08:49 AM

My rack was supposed to have been shipped Monday, but I have not been able to confirm that with Jon. He's not answering his phone and not returning my emails. Usually, this kind of thing means that there has been another delay, but I hope not, as I am hoping to get to the Deals Gap and Jon has my stock rack, which he used to make sure the LHD version was correctly designed.

Gordon

lt1_fd3s 04-08-2009 09:16 AM

quick, someone loan gordon a rack for DGRR in case the new one doesn't show up! I would offer mine, but I have a feeling it leaks and would get his car messy =[

gmonsen 04-08-2009 04:37 PM

I have had it.

Gordon

MotoTek 04-10-2009 09:11 AM

patiently waiting. :willy_nilly: damn A.D.D.

Gordon, do you mean you have the billet rack? Or just a stock rack you can use?

Herblenny 04-10-2009 09:17 AM

Gordon, Hope you get your rack soon so I can take a look at DGRR :)

gmonsen 04-10-2009 01:39 PM

Jon has both my stock rack and the manual rack he's made (apparently) or is still making. He used my stock rack to make sure the new LHD rack was correct. He said he sent the rack, but I have not been able to get a tracking number, though I am hoping for one today. Does anyone know why it would be an issue to get me the tracking number?

Update: I have the tracking number, which suggests my rack will be here tomorrow! That means my car might be done for DGRR!

Gordon

To_Slow 04-11-2009 08:03 AM

Do post some pics to se how she is looking....

lt1_fd3s 04-13-2009 05:08 PM

I just got a tracking number and mine should show up on the 15th. I'll bring it to DGRR with me.

gmonsen 04-13-2009 09:04 PM

Guys... Mine came over the weekend along with my old rack that Jon used to spec the new LHD one. It was installed today. Here are some pictures of the rack next to the stock rack and some close ups. They didn't go with the solid mount, but the modified collar looks better than the stock collar.

WOW! Looks great!

Now I want one :)

MotoTek 04-13-2009 10:46 PM

I got my tracking number today. :)

I have my P/S rack for sale, but I've never driven a car fully manual. Going to hold onto it until I see how this baby drives.

To_Slow 04-14-2009 05:50 AM

Looks nice.. either way solid or un solid mount, that's the specs i was looking for... Nice and compact.... It will be nice to see it on your car Gordon at the Dragon...

Later

MotoTek 04-20-2009 11:49 AM

Wow, Jon packaged this thing to withstand a 30ft drop. haha
Can't wait until my car is finished. :banghead:

Cool! Can't wait to see your 20B!! Also, let me know how this thing works out for you with your conversion.. I might pick one up ;)

Regarding to the bar, why didn't that make the otherside solid like the right side? Is there a reason why its a seperate piece mounting hardware vs. solid piece with the rack?

lt1_fd3s 04-23-2009 07:19 AM

I was just reading gordon's thread on 7club about the install of his rack. here is one thing for us to keep in mind when we mess with our own:

hopefully he will chime in over there too...

and jon does say:

so anyone who didn't get in on the initial GB will still be able to get one when they are ready

MotoTek 04-23-2009 04:08 PM

So.... here they are. I had to go get some shipping quotes for my stock P/S rack and Pump, so I asked the UPS guy to snap some shots of the weights as well.

16.92
+11.68
=28.6
- 9.98
=18.62 difference between stock system vs conversion
