the top is a typical 90 hose end (don't have hose in mine yet obviously)

then the female end is on the short end of this bulkhead adaptor:

then i got one of these for each connector, there was one hex nut on each that came off and the 2 nylon washers.. took that stuff, trashed the actual fitting. (like i said, i'm sure theres a more cost effective way)

then the bottom is this:

You can guaranteed get all these pieces from summit racing but if you're ordering online, i'm sure theres a much cheaper way around it.. each unit cost me over 70 bucks.. which is robbery.

Oh and i should add, if you're doing this, you might also consider getting some electrical bulkhead connectors like these ones that summit sells

to do a nice clean fuel pump wire. Just got mine today!

Summit Racing also sells 90° bulkhead connectors.

- -8 bulkhead fitting, 90deg Aeroquip Bulkhead Adapter Fittings FBM2794 $16.95
- -6 bulkhead fitting, 90deg Aeroquip Bulkhead Adapter Fittings FBM2793 $9.95

I believe the two above fittings are for AN hose ends on either side, not a fuel line connection, though.

Thanks for the info, guys!

Body work is wrapping up.
Here are the parts painted off the car. The rest of the car goes in tomorrow.

Dang. That's looking really nice, and black is such an unforgiving color. I'm not seeing any ripples in the bodywork at all.

Nope.. and i wouldn't count on it aha. The person who did the job took a lot of pride in doing it properly.
There are a few dust specs that will we wet sanded and polished out, and there is a tiny clear coat run on the bottom of the spoiler. Thats pretty much all the flaws there are.
Even where some holes were filled, the turn signals on the front fenders, the antenna and wiper.. can't even tell they were there.

Mitchocalypse 04-04-2013 11:39 PM

small updates:

put this new dif cover on. I saw this online and thought "oh thats a cool part".. so i got it for the cool factor.

greddy vs. stock:

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps1cef34b7.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps2f8830a2.jpg

also got a few more things on order:
-aluminum baffled oil neck
-HKS oil cap
-proper ventilated oil catch tank system -10an lines from oil neck and i'm also going to run a line from the rear oil return port to the catch tank. I was reading (all-be-it on the other forum) that a lot of people who track their FD's say this is the ideal way to run the ventilation system.
-carbon fiber door sills (cause i couldn't find any good condition OEM ones for sale)
-RICE water injection kit :fawk:

put my interior back together for the most part. Using black door panels. Going to pick up some black kick panels this weeked to finish up my 1/2 black conversion (I'm leaving the roof red.)

installed new rear strut tower bar

I'll take a few pics tomorrow and post. with a good camera. (sorry about those diff pics :302:

Fine. Pictures with an actual camera.

Interior is still pretty dirty cause I haven't cleaned it yet and probably won't for a while. I Epoxy'd the SHIT out of the inside of the breaky door handle and i will be shocked if it ever breaks. (Terrible oem design. wtf were they thinking? Also.. I require a RHD map pocket lid still.. if anyone just happens to have one lying around. Oh.. and the steering wheel needs to go..

Mitchocalypse 04-15-2013 04:39 PM

took a few more baby steps today..

First I relocated the igniter to outside the engine bay behind the fender. Probably the cleanest "wire tuck" i've ever done too. Mad impressed with myself :302: although it was really really easy lol.

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psecda76ef.jpg

and the result:
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps7e616027.jpg

mounted coils and plug wires...
not the cleanest thing in the engine but you can barely see them anyways when it's all said and done. I might relocate them to the frame rail later but this will last long enough:
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps90367b9c.jpg

and with the igniter gone, it made mounting the twin power pretty easy:

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps19bb1528.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psd37fc6bc.jpg

the flash makes the engine bay look dirtier than it is :(

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps899133f9.jpg

maybe i should start studying for exam season..

LOLOLOLOL
jk

Mitchocalypse 04-22-2013 02:53 AM

Bit of an update..

Got the turbo last week. I'm sure most of you have seen a T04Z but just in case.. heres a piece of canadiana as a size reference
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps3cb47da4.jpg

more TiAL:
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps95c47c87.jpg

and a mock up of the last of the aero.
fitment is A- but it really complete's the look. Not painted but they're black so it gives a good idea. There aren't any bolts holding it on so thats why the front is off.

You should really fabricate some form of heat shield for the lim - wrapping it in the gold tape doesn't really do a whole lot compared to a rigid shield and an air barrier. It's pretty easy and cheap too, you can just drill and tap a couple mounting holes in the passages for the acv (if you have it blocked off) and just bolt a heat shield made of your material of choice.

DriFD3S 04-28-2013 04:24 AM

Mitch, I'm not even kidding,
I would sell my soul for some of your car parts.

Keep up the great build bro!!!

RICE RACING 04-28-2013 05:07 AM

That is allot of waste gate springs!

I need two of those cunts for my new turbo set up :)

Your motor turbo combo is great! it will perform GAG FACTOR :) :) :)
We can add it to the fast FD thread when you are done

I'll probably get some of these made at the same time i have my water tank fab'd up. cause yeah.. definitely seems like a simple and effective solution.

i can't remember the last time i had an internet purchase go smoothly. Actually, yes i can.. 6 months ago when I dealt with banzai.

Although, i think my RR kit is here now. Hopefully they didn't break it in transit. That one could reset the counter. Fingers crossed.

Sometimes i just think.. fuck cars. :)

Mitchocalypse 06-02-2013 12:22 AM

damn it's been a long time since i've posted an update.

here are some pictures of the oil cooler install once the above got sorted out:

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps7fee5c1e.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps5b8c7580.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps3e259b7d.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psfc0b6afe.jpg

Theres some more stuff in the engine now too. I think my time frame for starting this is 3 weeks. i should be getting the rest of my turbo kit and fuel system this week so over the weekednd i'll have that on.

I'm waiting for a few fittings and stuff from a local parts store and I'm also having a custom oil filler neck made as well. just need my piping to get here but i'm told its a super easy job.

I'll just be using the stock rad and intercooler for the engine break in because it's still going to be about another 2 months before the shop can have mine finished.

but break in means nothing other 4000 rpm (or something like that, ill have to double check) and no boost. so that shouldn't be an issue.

also mounted a catch can today, my boost control solenoid, and I did some of the best electrical work i have personally ever done on rewiring the plugs / pins on the fuel pump. I took pics of that but they aren't on my computer no and I'm lazy so i'll upload later.

its getting there.. kinda.
once the intake manifolds and turbo are on it will look a little more optimistic in the engine bay

Mitchocalypse 06-02-2013 03:04 AM

this is some more of what i did today..
probably the best wiring type thing i've ever done.

depinned the electrical connector of the 340 and and put new ones in with some 10 gauge wire to properly feed the pump. They are really good pumps apparently but the wiring is a big restriction.

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps283d0325.jpg

and it still clips in the pump just like that:

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psd0215e05.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps0bdfffa7.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psec21f40a.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps8076bb72.jpg

tomorrow i want to get the fuel filter mounted somewhere and thats about it.

But next weekend should be fun :icon_tup:
Unfortunately i can't work on the car during the week but it gives you a good break i guess.

speedjunkie 06-02-2013 05:16 PM

I love the Setrab coolers. Dink up the threads on the fittings? Just pull them out and swap them, no need to swap the whole cooler like the Mocals. Although when the coolers themselves are dinked up, not much you can do.

Good job on the fuel pump wiring too!

Mitchocalypse 06-16-2013 04:16 AM

thanks for the comments guys!

did a decent amount of stuff the last little while which was never really posted.

finished "taping" up the intake manifolds and installed the block off plates. Only thing is this one on the back that you see in the picture is too thick to work with my secondary fuel rail so i'll have to get the FFE one as well. (that is also using FFE's rounded nuts. the BOP is simply too thick.)

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psa11d5e1b.jpg

and finally got to play with the turbo! I tried polishing the compressor housing. and failed. so i'll have to take it somewhere to get polished but i'll wait and get a few things done at the same time. So excuse the fact that it looks like shit.

I also got a new manifold that is actually usable. i would say it's a 7/10. I'll definitely leave it for now but down the road it will be something i want to upgrade. The DP on the other hand is an absolute abortion and I will be having a new one made the second I can drive the car out to the rotary clinic where I live.

anyhoo, you can sort of see the manifold here, as well as the oil return i made.
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps17daf2e7.jpg

mounted the catch can here:
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...pse07fa286.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps649e0560.jpg

and converted the rear turbo oil return into a vent so now there is a vent on both sides of the engine (here and on the oil neck)

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps5ee11422.jpg

and we get this:
(the long vent line isnt really held down by anything but i'll attach it to something so its not so much just hanging there)

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps07660183.jpg

pretty well the same picture:
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps1b067eb9.jpg

a little piece of engine dress up that nobody will notice. Ever.

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps781f8fd3.jpg

LIM and w/p housing "on."
(Sort of a mock up but they are on for now, okay?!?))

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...pse7a9d3e3.jpg

and i wanted to test fit the fuel lines under the UIM to make sure they work with the coils and everything. they do.

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psb22909a8.jpg

and then for shits and giggles, lets get a little bit ahead of ourselves:

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...pse148922d.jpg

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps8ad10802.jpg

ninesixtwo 06-16-2013 08:39 PM

Sorry, hate to be that guy haha. Who made that manifold? 7/10 is quite generous. Good to see its going together though

Mitchocalypse 06-17-2013 12:00 AM

Manifold is Compliments of zn performance. And that took 9 months to get.

It isn't good but the flash on the camera makes it look even worse.

You should have seen the first one!

RedR1 06-17-2013 12:29 PM

good to hear that the parts are coming in. Has everythnig from them ship yet?

Mitchocalypse 07-30-2013 11:11 PM

With everything that's gone into this car.. I had a very hard time leaving that manifold on.

So I upgraded. Ceramic coated, short runner dual wastegate.. Beautiful welds. Much better. Custom downpipe to come as well.

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps7a8b58c1.jpg
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps3f29cf07.jpg
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps5918bcdf.jpg

Now if I could just get my injectors..

I'm promised either a tracking number or a refund by Friday. I love ZN performance so much.

Mitchocalypse 09-11-2013 10:52 PM

Been a long time since I updated.
Recently I've done a lot of work but not too many pictures because I was more focused on doing things.

Few small things..
Decided to go with a link g4 ecu. It's already tuned for my setup. Might need some touching up because the difference in aussie-land and western canada climates

New manifold Is also on..

Setup for 2 wastegates:
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psc190547c.jpg

Here is the initial setup:
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps740b1870.jpg

But the front most wastegate hit the steering column soo, had the raise the engine, drop the subframe, take off the engine mounts, cut an inch or so off the mount then put everything back on.
NOPE.
The mounts are sort of in a "V" shape, so when you shorten them, they really didn't want to line up with the holes in the subframe where they bolt so I drilled a new hole, dropped it in, and luckily it worked!

Got a bunch of other stuff put together as well, fuel system, turbo, water tank/fuel cooler (which some of you might recognize) here are just a few random shots. Like I said, didn't take many. Last pic is basically where it's at now.

The windshield is a workbench
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps6e887e7f.jpg

More to come soon as well!

Mitchocalypse 09-11-2013 10:55 PM

oh yeah.. also "finished" up the fuel system tonight.

It's all hooked up but i want to pressure test it in the morning by sending power to the pump.

If thats good, it's all downhill :D

i'm sooo excited to try turning the key. Soon. Soon.

Thank you sir!

well i tried to have it running again this weekend but i didn't have much time. I did get the boost controller installed though.

Took me a while to figure out where i wanted to put it. I just new i wanted it hidden. I also decided i didn't want to drill more holes through the firewall so i basically bundled up the wires and ran them down the tranny tunnel and up by the shifter. Everything got tucked under the consoly-thing.

this is the actual computer unit thing velcro'd down on the carpet inside the console:
http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psa36397b2.jpg

heres a better pic. The wire that loops back around and goes forward is actually for the wideband which works with the b/c. Theres a little box that wouldn't fit under the console so its going up by the passengers feet - out of the way of course

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps66d165ec.jpg

and here's the result:

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...psfd7850a2.jpg

hand controller i'll probably put up on the dash somehow but its just sitting there for now.

Crap never even thought about this. Glad you brought it up or I wouldn't have even realized.

I'm trying to think of an easy solution.. You think adding coolant while spinning the water pump would work? Like turn off the fuel pump and crank the engine over while filling coolant?

Actually no that sounds kinda sketchy. Like, the whole line is beneath the fill mark so maybe I just need to burp it a few more times than usual?

I dunno, got any suggestions?
