I hate adaptronic. Two good points are the PnP, and the engine protection. I've tuned a few of them on RX8's, never an FD, and on the RX8 I felt like it was a step above the PFC.... then of course I go hookup my MoTeC, or a new Link, or anything else and I get reminded of what can be.

Caveat on the PnP is that it's only a good point if you know you have a good or new wiring harness to start with. If the harness is crispy, beat up or has been otherwise effed with by a dumb previous owner, PnP becomes a liability.

You're absolutely right. I've had problems with my RX8 that is basically stock, only bolt-on's, still running the stock ECU.... not even a Cobb hook-up... and I've had the Cobb in the glovebox for almost 4 years now... shoe makers shoes and all that... squirrel! ... with problems with crispy wiring, and that car is only 12 years old. Problems with the connection between the trigger sensor and the connector, shielding issues, it fucking sucks... and those harnesses are only about $800. And I still won't buy one, but I can fix it... correctly... and for a fraction of the price. Had my 8 been a turbo car, that wiring would've already cost me an engine.

BTW - off the top of my head I can think of 4 engines that popped because of a PFC, and HC has probably killed 2x that on his PFC

But yeah, I did mention that....

B) the adaptronic isn't much better. It's quicker and can actually datalog although not very well at all. and the interface sucks big horse cock. Oh, and it's still relying on 25 year old wiring. So consider buying a new stock engine harness for like $1200

If you are serious about replacing your ECU get in touch with C.Ludwig on this forum.
