Well, obviously, but Mazda says weight reduction. LOL

Plastic radiator end tanks, check!
Plastic AST, check!

Makes sense to me! lol

TitaniumTT 06-10-2016 08:28 AM

Nah, the plastic is for cost, not weight... most OEM coolant tanks/end tanks are also plastic....

speedjunkie 06-10-2016 11:45 AM

Yeah, but most OEM don't have super rotor fire!

I tried to make that sound as Japanese as possible, but that's hard to convey through text.

A little something for TIG'd up tuesday. Got all the WG recirc pipes final welded.

It was a helacious weekend, but we made some good progress. Up till ~5-6 AM Friday and Saturday working was not fun. Gotta thank Brian for all the hard work he's been putting in with me. :icon_tup:

I finished the sheet metal on the driver's side, and we stripped the bay down for paint.

Got the car flipped around and rolled it into our makeshift paint both in the annex.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6...710_012734.jpg

Then this happened. Dropped the complete sub frame out. We're going backwards!

Brian fought through some issues with the paint gun and laid down some initial primer. We still need to mud/sand it then put down the final primer before color. It's nice to see it almost entirely one color!

Thanks bud!

Pretty much yeah  With the exception of a small hiatus for some personal shit I've been going up there almost every other weekend. The drive is a killer!

Yeah, I can imagine that drive would get draining... Have you thought about taking the train? I'm pretty sure I remember seeing Amtrak listing Stamford on one of the daily lines from Union Station when I was taking the MARC train as my daily commute for work..

Na, I'm usually shuffling parts one way or the other. Not to mention train tickets are expensive, and mouth breathers make me angry

That fucking sucked but thanks for reminding me to find and order a rebuild kit..... note to self... no one else is allowed to borrow my gun....

Hmmmmm yeah... I tend to believe a train ride with a block, complete subframe, tranny, and PPF would be rather difficult to accomplish

Incidently.... Need to think/discuss/plan parts returning.... may not need to bring engine/tranny next time. Might want to get the column, steering, ABS and brake lines in... all that shit before the engine gets cumdumped in.... wiring too is going to be a motherfucker to complete.

Ah, I didn't realize you were schlepping parts back and forth as well :)

TitaniumTT 07-11-2016 09:56 AM

Werd, It's why everyone needs a REPU

Agreed. Thought it was premature for engine.

While loading it would have been easier. You have to be impressed at what the Fit can hold.

RXtacy 07-21-2016 08:58 PM

While the sub frame is out I've been working on refreshing the suspension/steering.

Installed poly PS, control arm, and sway bar bushings.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-A...721_203138.jpg

New ball joint boots.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-k...721_203153.jpg

New inner and outer tie rods, and new steering rack boots.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-T...721_203226.jpg

New adjustable sway bar end links, and sway bar mounts as well.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-u...721_203210.jpg

Still need to sand blast/paint the lower control arms and install the new bushings.

Well that made me wet
