Whats up with the hammered paint finish on the fuel rails and coil rails? Is that factory?

Looking good..... for a v8.....

TitaniumTT 01-06-2011 09:51 PM

Valve covers? WTF are those things?

That looks like just a wrinkle finish powdercoat. I've got a lb or so of it kicking around that I've used before.

FC3S Murray 01-07-2011 03:46 PM

Yep, wrinkle finsih flat black. Thanks for the relucatant compliment WE3RX7 ;)

More parts in today, most importantly my O2 sensors are in.....start up can begin very soon now!

chibikougan 02-09-2011 12:34 AM

Can you tow my FB to the races for me? I will get on fabin ya up a receiver hitch. I want to come ooogle your car? Update or I am just going to stop by in my G string.

Prodigy 02-09-2011 12:54 AM

Exhaust pics or BAN!!!!

One of my next trips through Great Falls I am going to have to plan to stop by and meet a couple of you guys, and see the car... seeing as you are just across the border (its only a 7 hour drive, I might just make it a weekend trip once in a while) and once my 7 is running fine and smooth it would be a great "little road trip" to take her on....

J.

chibikougan 02-09-2011 01:10 AM

That would be a good plan. Once the weather gets nicer and we get some damn 7's going I am hoping to throw a BBQ at my Cabin out in Wolf Creek. Maybe plan it around a SCCA race at the Helena airport.

Prodigy 02-09-2011 01:25 AM

I might, MIGHT be able to get a few more 7's depending on date, if they are running etc... :P

Sounds like something we should plan for though... would be a great time..

Where is this G-Funk place that you call home...?

J.

chibikougan 02-09-2011 01:33 AM

Haha that is my Ghetto name for Great Falls. I live right around FC3S Murray aka Sean, Project86 aka Kyle, Haukbeeb aka Kyle. There are a few more of us Matt, Rett. Seans Uncle has an FD his Aunt has an FC. Lots of Randoms we have not met up with also. If we do this meet at the Cabin the Helena Peeps would most likely show up also.

FC3S Murray 02-23-2011 10:28 PM

No updates recently boys. Ransom welded my Gas pedal extension to give the pedal more throw. Today my shitty 1998 Camaro throttle cable unraveled itself when I cut it to shorten it and put on a swedge.

I have started to fabricate my 4'' intake and when all the goodies get in I will start cutting.

Really just be pissed off and lazy lately due to the shitty weather and I am just tired on working on the FC every spare minute I have(or lack there of).

Brian was right: this project is time consuming BUT it has been very informative and for the most part fun. Oh if I had the time like I had when I was single :)

TitaniumTT 02-23-2011 10:49 PM

Gas pedal extension doesn't mean the throttle will open more making the car faster..... GM owners... wow.... ;)

Sooooooo you're surprised a 13 y.o. GM piece fell apart?

Lets see some more pics man. I told you it was a cool swap if done right, but so few people acutally take the time to do it properly as you have. I'd still rather see that ole' rotary in there though ;)

josh18_2k 02-23-2011 11:13 PM

wtf is with all these ppl and throttle cable problems? im using an OEM non-tc camaro cable, and it matches the FC pedal perfectly. no freeplay, 99% TP on the floor.

IDK man!.....I think the newer LS1 thorttle bodies have a smaller cable linkage which is why some people are getting extra slack in the cable. I had about 6'' too much.

Then my firewall clearancing for the JTR headers was a little extreme and caused me to have to bend the gas pedal since it was bottoming out and add the rod extension for the extra throw.

Been a mother f*cker recently

Thank Brian and I will post some more pics once this intake is done. I really wanted to do a over the radiator intake like the Samberg kits or Frijolee's FC but this will do for now. 4'' piping is big shit to work with:beatdeadhorse5:

FC3S Murray 02-24-2011 02:35 AM

Here is the latest update on th V8 forum:

Update:

So since I havent been posting lately DOESNT mean I have not been wrenching when the time allows.
Most of my work has been RE-wiring my driverside OEM harness due to me cutting out FE-01..which is needed for IGN power lol.
I have also been working on the little stuff that is just time consuming like: exhaust fabrication, muffler fabrication, interior assembly and new CHECK ENGINE lighting, throttle cable installation(btw the OEM throttle cable piece in the firewall can F*ck off..what a pain to remove), Gas pedal adjustment/fabrication, Fan relay wiring, flushing pre-mixed gasoline out of tank, driveshaft installation, tranny servicing, oil dip stick fabrication, hose and wire routing in engine bay, custom shifter assembly AND intake pipe fabrication.

Sooo I am still at work boys, do not worry 8)

I have much more stuff done but you will see some completion pics and a start video SOON, promise!

RETed 02-24-2011 05:36 AM

chibikougan 02-24-2011 10:42 AM

FC3S Murray 02-24-2011 11:45 AM

chibikougan 02-24-2011 02:44 PM

Nah! You Do You Do.

FC3S Murray 03-06-2011 05:50 PM

UPDATE:

So things have been slow AGAIN!! This time of year is never good for me, anyway I have been working on the FC when time allows.

I have almost finished fabricating my 4'' CAI just like rx7builders. I just have to fit my S5 front bumper to see how much room my air filter will have near the passenger brake duct so it doesnt hit. I cant decide if I want to powercoat the piping black or not. Here are the pre-staging pics:
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...rleebob002.jpg
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...rleebob003.jpg
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...rleebob004.jpg

I had to replace my throttle cable since the first cable un-wound on me will trying to put on a swedge. New one fits great and I have 100% throttle with the pedal to the floor.
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...rleebob001.jpg

Replaced my fuel rail Russel adapter with a Summit compression fitting...just not comfortable with the plastic clip on the rail. Not worth the risk IMHO. Really hating the blue fuel lines now...they may go black too.
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...rleebob005.jpg

Got my Willwood 7/8th bled....WHAT A PROCESS!! The only word of advise I can give for new members is to make the Master Cylinder Rod as short as possible(meaning fully threaded through the clutch pedal clevis). I have a tick performance speed bleeder so the job only required ME. It only took about 4bleed cycles to get the entire system air free. All that is left is to adjust the pedal throw come time when I start to drive it.
http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...charleebob.jpg

I did get my Magnaflow muffler tips welded on my 6" mufflers (thanks Ransom!!). They will look tits!

Here is how the motor sits right now...collecting dust: :(...ignore the BDC sticker lol

chibikougan 03-06-2011 06:00 PM

Lookin very nice. I am freakin out with spring coming and having nothing to play with. To the point where that STI at Bennet is making me think of selling my rotor bits the 2 and trading my truck in. I am going to have to try and bum co-drives all this season I think.:willy_nilly:

project86 03-06-2011 09:56 PM

wow sean its lookin good.. i need to come see it in person next time im in GF. so whats with the deal with the dildo shaped shifter? haha...

do you still have your mazdaspeed knob?

FC3S Murray 03-06-2011 11:13 PM

Thanks kyle.

That knob gets you all excited doesn't it Kyle? lol! The pics dont do it justice and wait to ya feel the texture of the the delrin....feels like silk, it is crazy

No I sold the mazdaspeed knob long time ago. I thought about trying to use it but the T56 shifter is M16 in size...pretty damn tough.

Ransom: DO IT!! :)

project86 03-06-2011 11:20 PM

Yes... im all sorts of turned on by that knob.. and dammit... i guess ill have to sell my soul to buy another one. i get rid of shit too soon haha. i need to stop doing that.

chibikougan 03-06-2011 11:21 PM

Haha I can't justify $200 a month on car insurance. I will just bum co driver off you and anyone else I can. Haha

TitaniumTT 03-06-2011 11:58 PM

Grind it down a little and re-spin it for the right threads! I plan on pulling my shifter out of the Cherokee tomorrow so I can die it for the M12x whatever the RX8 5spd knob is....

Yeah thought about that too but it is a little after the fact. Plus the price of that Mazdaspeed shift knob is crazy!

I will get some better pics of my current shift knob...it doesnt look bad, I just had shitty pics f*ckers :)

Leave the Mazdaspeed knob alone, re-die the threads on the shifter.... but it is a GM product so be careful, it might snap in half when you apply 6-7ft/lbs to spin the die.

Why is there a dildo where a shifter should be? Ohhhhh.... it's not a dildo... it's a male same sex marital aid.... afterall, the car is now gay ;)

You know how I know your gay...?

project86 03-07-2011 02:19 PM

Brian listens to cold play. Sean it actually doesnt look to bad haha... although the dildo jokes are funny......

TitaniumTT 03-07-2011 02:36 PM

Like I stated earlier....at this point in my life I dont care whats under the hood......I just want to enjoy the FC.

I got you beat! I think I have had my engine out over 15 times in the last 10 years.
Have contemplated a V8 especially after seeing this.

TitaniumTT 03-07-2011 05:31 PM

Yeah but you used to be involved with bdc, both of you, so you're automatically disqualified. Esp Murray, perfect running car till you followed the bdc methwagon.

Me-3.5 rebuilds in 9 mo's from stupid shit.....

Probably had the engine out near 10 times in one year. Then again, single handed its 3 hrs from the time I drive the car into the garage till the time the engines on the stand :p

Where's my medal?

FC3S Murray 03-10-2011 09:30 PM

project86 03-10-2011 09:41 PM

TitaniumTT 03-10-2011 10:30 PM

They told me you placed a special order for one with some sort of leather harness in a female size and one threaded M10x1.25 ;)

project86 03-10-2011 10:38 PM

i hope that was directed towards Sean and not me. ill kick some ass

TitaniumTT 03-10-2011 10:43 PM
