No. The answer to my problem is Haltech.

i might eat my words on this but if u do go Haltech I don't think you will be up and running as fast as you think. Getting a harness built, wiring it up, getting a tune is a lot of work and money.

The 8 goes into the body shop this weekend... They think they can get it done in time.... we'll see. So much to do and no time.

Engine swap starts in July.

Make it in time?

Shit, Charles and Adler painted the Miata on Tuesday, and we took it to DGRR on Thursday.

 Petes car was up on stands in my shop a few weeks ago. Harness is 1/2 way done. Plan is for him to take it on 03/12, and then head back up two weeks later after it's completelt broken in and we can tune it. It's a rush but should be able to get everything done in time

No painting involved. It's all fiberblass and body work.

Hope it gets done but body shops seem to always over deliver.

LSX?

You have the car with you and you are building the harness and it's still taking you X amount of weeks?

You will then install the harness and set the base map.

Peter breaks the engine in and then drive or trailer the car to you and have it tuned.

Kyle has to buy an haltech and all the sensors.

I would think you would charge him some money to build the harness

He then has to install a harness that was built remotely and hope that the length and sensor are in the right place. I know you can get it close. Not sure if the harness will just be plug and play either. Got to wire in power, ground, prob fuel pump power, speedo and rpm.

Once everything is connected and it doesn't start, he has to rely on a few local friend to come over and help or call you.

I sound like a big pessimistic and hope it all works out if Kyle goes Haltech but i don't think that's his answer to his problem.

Yeah, historically I only get a chance to work on the cars on the weekend. Tonight though, Maggie has her art thing so home is mine until about 22:00. So I'll have the harness laid out on the dining room table striping, crimping, and terminating the harness from the Firewall forward. Saturday after the snow I'll head to the shop and build the back half

Few minutes to get the basemap loaded and the thing running. I'm driving and tuning an FD now that is incredibly similar to Pete's engine. Should need very minor adjustments before he can make the 200is mile run back to MD next weekend

Two weeks and then we'll be good to tune. He'll just drive it up

I have a PS2k harness that I could finish up in a day and sell to him with all the sensors needed. Integrating it to his S5 would be slightly time consuming though, like maybe a day to feed it the power, ground and turn on's that it needs.

They start @ $2k installed

The ideal way to do it would be to send me some measurements for the harness from the firewall forward. Build that completely and then head down to get it all installed.

And I would be very little help because without seeing it, I've already given him all the advice I've got. Now it's really oddball shit that needs to be looked at

I told him that too.... at this point the helltech is nothing more than a really expensive piece of diagnostic equipment. Of course I could be wrong and the helltech will fix everything, but I suspect that there's a mechanical problem, or electrical, that hasn't been found yet.

djmtsu 03-01-2017 12:15 PM

Poor Kyle.
