The GM coils that BHR uses for their kit have an auto-discharge to save the coil if the dwell time gets too high. Mazda calc dwell at crank based on voltage and RPM. So if the battery is dying or it's a particularily cold morning and the engine is cranking slowly, the coil can auto discharge and sheer the apex seal.... while starting.
How do I know this, I was warned about the coils YEARS ago by a MoTeC Engineer, and I've seen it, or spoken to someone about it three times now.
