I have 90 S5 GTU. Had the mouse tracks replaced about two years ago and now after the car has been running for a bit, the seat beat warning light comes on. Doesnt matter if the both lap belts are fastned or not. Also when the key is put in the ignition you get a bunch of beeps. not the normal door ding. Any ideas would be great!

Mine did this for a while. I think it has something to do with the lap belt on the driver's side. It quit doing it or I would have figured it out. (The beeping actually would come on while I was driving sometimes.) It drove me nuts.
I actually drove my '91 every day for a while (that was hard on the gasoline budget) and it quit beeping after being daily driven for about 2 months (I think that some contacts got shined up or something).

I figured it couldnt be too bad. It sits more than it drives so I was thinking something like that. Plus I have the mouse tracks replaced so a wire could have come loose etc.

Would this describe/help it?
I keep hearing a beep beep beep
Probably the power steering computer telling you there is a problem with the system. The number of beeps before pausing will indicate the problem.
1-beep, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of speed sensor signal:
In case broken wires or short circuits occur to sensors or harnesses, the buzzer sounds 60-seconds after the engine speed signal of 2200 rpm continues for 18-seconds.
2-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of engine speed signal:
The buzzer sounds twice and repeats when the vehicle speed signal is missing input and/or no engine speed signal is found (short circuit, broken wire, etc.)
3-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of stepping motor signal:
The buzzer sounds when there are broken wires or short circuits in coils or harnesses.
4-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of the power steering microcomputer:
The buzzer sounds 4 and repeats when there are circuit troubles other than with the micro computer.
5-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of steering sensor signal: Steering sensor is mis-aligned or failed or steering wheel has been improperly installed.

I thought thats what it could be. You put the key in and you get the beeps. But everything runs fine no issues etc. Just the secuirty systems doesnt work and when driving you get the light(seat belt) come on. This onlt after it has been running for a bit. I replaced the power steering pump a few years ago so unless the computer is going out dont think it could be that.

The power steering beeps wait for 60 seconds after turning on the key (You can reset them by shutting the key off and turning it back on).
I removed my power steering computer in my '86 because it started beeping. It started beeping because I removed the power steering. I removed the power steering because it leaked and I got in trouble for making a mess in my parking spot at work.
The actual issue is two fold, there is a sensor for steering angle and another on the pump (maybe pressure control or something). If either of these readings are out of spec, the computer throws a code.
To make sure, try pulling fuses until the beeping quits, that should isolate the problem.
