View Full Version : Beware of Hinson Supercar...

What I'm about to say saddens me as they are a local shop and provided top notch job in the past....
BUT!, At this point in time, I do not recommend Hinson Supercars for your LSx conversion.. Recently I have met and heard horror stories about their work quality. One person who sent his car to them spent over $20K and over 10 months at their shop, when quoted couple of thousand and 2 week worth of work... And when car was received, it was a complete hack job..
Not only that, the customer's car was mis-treated and now the car requires a new paint job and such.
I used to recommend Hinson but something happened to them and I can no longer recommend them... IF you are thinking about LSx conversion and wanting them to do the job, please get everything in writing and don't pay them anything until you have a solid guarantee and agreement in hand...
Also, make sure to document everything in writing and take detail picture of your car before you send the car off. Its a sad day that I have to say this on this forum to warn someone I know, but this is for the better of the community.

I heard about that too... I hate to get involved in this kind of thing.. as I never had problem with Hinson.. but the guy I met was a such a professional guy and down to earth, I have to state this so that other future LSx converters should take caution when dealing with them..
Like I said on my first post.. If you are planning to do business.. make sure you communicate via email... as I've heard Hinson prefers over the phone, which later on, there is no trace unless you get his permission to record your conversations.. Also, make sure to mention what he will do if the time isn't met... ie, discount or refund, etc.. Make sure to get everything in writing.

Sorry to hear this. I hope your friend can get his car back up to where it originally was. I know I've def. had to deal with situations like this in the past and it makes you question if having a car like the FD is even worth it. Never had an issue with them, but then again I've never really had to deal with them. I just think there are better LSX conversions/components out there. I've emailed them a couple of times in the past and never got a response from them and that was good enough for me to take my money elsewhere. I'm using their stuff simply because it came with my car. I think the majority of their products are pretty good, but Samberg's and JTR's are better overall, especially for the money.

Nothing worse than paying for something and not getting your money's worth. I've learned this the hard way too but it never cost THAT much.

As some of you may know Lane was doing all the work and Brian was just a figure head and I heard that Lane is no longer doing the work, i also heard that they are only selling the kits now and not doing turnkeys since Lane is no longer doing the work. I never had a problem with Lane and I dont know if any of what i heard is true................but you never know

its a shame the way the company developed. i bought all hinson stuff about 3 yrs ago, and was treated well, and have since watched their downfall on v8rx7forum.
fortunately, there are good alternatives available for those of us who betray the rotary, so its not the end of the world lol

I've only ordered parts from Hinson in the past. I placed the order and received what I ordered, I didn't get into their customer service (ordered through email...)
If someone is looking for someone to do their LSx conversion, I have a personal friend who does them on the side. I have seen his work first hand and I know he is very respected the v7rx8forum. (i think some of you have had "discussions" with him on 7club about pistons vs rotors...)
Anyway, just offering an alternative to someone who may be looking to convert.

I would like to bump this thread as I got an update from a guy who got his conversion done by Hinson..
The customer took his car to a drag strip and on his very first pass, the entire cat back from his y section came off the car!!! Quite dangerous if this might of happened on street.
Anyhow, I just wanted to bump this thread..

glad i saw this thread before i spent any money with them... I'm in bham so i would of dealt with them in person to get my parts...
But also I'd like to hear brians side of the story.
Personally from experience as bad as it seems, people do lie about stuff, but I use to run a collision repair / Mechanic shop with my father, when we recieved any car, I would do a video and several pics of any damage on the car. So if we ever had a complaint , we had proof of what was on the car and wasn't. My father ran his business for 30 plus years and he ran into problems from time to time. But yea not saying that a hack job didn't happen or so on, just like to see both sides of the story.

Ty,
Where in Bham are you? I'm also in Bham...
Regarding Hinson.. Brian is a nice guy. Never personally had issues with Brian nor Lane. But hearing so many of his customers complaining does make you think twice about them.
Anyhow, since you are local, he might have better communication with him. But the shop is South of Huntsville and Lane is the guy who actually wrenches.

Hey dude, you bumped a FIVE AND A HALF YEAR OLD THREAD TO ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESS???
I've seen your Intro, and you started to post in other threads for the sole purpose of pushing your business...
It's starting to look like spam.
I would suggest you try and offer some helpful information and not just spam replies with your business information.
Thread closed.
PM if you got a good reason to reopen.
