Best you can do without a full tube chassis. It's the only 7 with a solid rear axle already, it's the lightest, and there is already a wealth of knowledge about racing them. Atkins is selling their FB drag car, might want to talk to them.

I am building a FB. It isn't tubbed, but it has a Ford 8.8 rear end that is built. I just transferred the factory mazda 4 link to the rear and made the 4 link and the panhard bars fully adjustable. I have the car done except for the custom wheels for the front. I was going with fender flares, but decided I didn't want to cut on the car.

With the little turbo it made 440 RWHP on the 13bREW that is ported. By far the 1st gen is the best to make into a drag car. They are so cheap! If you take the best parts of each generation, you can make a respectable street car. A few people with these with a stock T2 gear box have went consistant high nines. Thats what is in my plans a high nine second, full interior, working A/C, turnkey driver on pump gas with methenol injection!

Im coming to get YOU!!!!! J/k hehe. I will try my best to attend IFO. I have to order front tires, align the car, and get the brakes to where I can trust them in order for me to attend.

I wish I could get my 2 step working but the inputs in the ECU aren't doing right.

yeah less boost may do a little better if your car is all over the place or slipping clutch. I may have a problem with the 4.88 rear end gears :D. Boy does it really feel nice and torquey down in the lower gears.

so your car is turbo with the 4.88 gear? what size tire are you running and hows it feel? i always heard to run a smaller gear with a turbo and i have 4.78s right now. not got to run it yet almost done with my new set up

1st gens make the best drag cars of all rotary cars...

I have built a 2nd gen, 3rd gen, and an Rx2 for drag use. So far the 1st gen I am building right now is the best choice I have ever made. Just look at the shape of it... Perfect

mine isnt built for drag but it has the 8.8 to handle the 400 ponys my LS1 makes. Actually the 8.8 vs stock difference is greater than the 12a vs LS1 so I now have more weight in the ass of the car. add the roll bar and even more back there. ;) oh and subs and dynamat
