brass bushing fell out of the oil filler neck and into the oil pan.. what should i do i can't get it out i assume it fell all the way into the pan. its too big to come out the drain plug and i don't think i can fish it out from the filler. what do i do.. :001_005:
if your certain it fell into the pan the only thing you can do is remove the pan to get it out. however it probably wont cause any damage if you leave it for a while (theres no moving parts in the pan to hit it and its obviously too large to clog up your pick-up tube) that is again based on the fact that your 100% certain its actually in the pan.

where else can it end up instead of the pan? im not too familar with the oil passages of the intermediate housing.

My bushings are steel/magnetic. The gold coating is a treatment on the cadium plating. Fish it out or put a magnetic drain plug in and just run it till the next oil change. It can't go through the oil pickup screen.
The only fear about leaving it in the pan would be on high g-load braking you might slush it foward all the way up to the oil pump chain! Highly unlikely.
My thoughts,

thats what i was afraid of. its too big to come out the oil drain, the pan is completely empty of oil at the moment.. im considering getting a strong magnet to capture it permanently thru the pan, i verified its in the pan by hammering the pan i can hear the thing rattling inside :(, i don't need the part.. just need it from getting caught in the oil pump :)

just thinking out loud...would you be able to access it if you remove the oil level sensor...it should be a bit bigger opening???

i tried at first, but but it is basically a dead end with all the baffles around it

try removing the oil filler neck and see if you can get at it from there. It's a rather large opening.

its a large opening but shrinks fast due to the design. its pretty hard getting in there, then having to fight with the horizontal baffles of the pan

I'd drop the pan and get it out of there if it were my car. Dropping the pan with the engine in the car isn't too difficult.
