I just tallied up the numbers and as of now we have well over 100 people signed up! And we still have another 45+ days to go!!

Also, Nantahala told me that less than 10 lodge/cabin/house are left... Which means, we have the place all to ourselves!! No more Porsche drunk drivers, frat boys, etc etc..

Hey now........I was a frat boy!!!

This year is going to be fantastic.

Do they have a lift and tow service though?

djmtsu

And Charles' REPU blew a coolant line and toasted the engine.

Although from the pics I've seen lately, you should tow the truck with the FC.

Lol

I think someone posted in one of the other forums that they were bringing a pretty stout truck for towing purposes if it was needed.

IF the new mystery acquisition goes thru as planned, I will be towing it up with the BEAST.

A butt ugly 92 Dodge Cummins Turbo-diesel from hell

BTW, Thanks to a bunch of great rotorheads, we changed the clutch in the deuce and I drove it home Sunday!

In case anything major was to happen I live about 35 mins from the dragon and can help with anything needed. Towing or tools are just a 35 mins drive away.

Yeah, but then that still leaves them needing someone who knows how to work on rotaries. ;)

They better hope it is a 3rd gen when I roll up:)

I'm having my girlfriend drive down in my 8 as backup if the GSL-SE leaves me stranded. If you see a gray GSL-SE on the side of the road - it's for sale :)

zonblitz
02-25-2008, 04:12 PM
That's still scary... an 8 is the backup!

WE3RX7
02-26-2008, 01:26 PM
Ha - I figured you'd think its scary that I let my GF drive it that far :)

She actually only has 1 mile commute to work each day, so I let her drive that one to keep the mileage down. It's an '04 w/ 33K on the clock... I think/HOPE it'll make the trip just fine... if not, I've got an REW I can swap into it :)

Herblenny
02-26-2008, 02:02 PM
Kevin, what do you use for pre-mix? I might have to start doing that:) I'm now having little bit of issues with my 8:(

Thanks Kevin! I'm going to pick up a gallon and start pre mixing.. I did notice its starting to idle bit rough and I had some issues during my trip to New Orleans.

You would think after 40 years of rotary engineering in cars, Mazda could get a decent premix system in these cars!

I hadn't started premixing the 8 (bought it used about a month ago)... but perhaps I should start. I premix all the other ones, its only fair!

I think someone posted in one of the other forums that they were bringing a pretty stout truck for towing purposes if it was needed.

That probably was me. I will have my 18ft flatbed trailer.
First time I took it to deals gap a few rotor heads liked hearing the turbo
coming from my hood puling the rex thru the gap. Now it is lifted, I will be a bit slower in the curves but the duramax runs hard for a big truck.

fire85gslse
03-01-2008, 09:14 PM
I too premix when I can remember to fill the bottle up. it does seem to help on all my rotaries.
And like Kevin said make sure it says "tc-3" on the bottle.

I used Pettit's Pro-Tek R in the FD for a while back when it was still stock ... maybe that's why the first motor went 124K miles before cracking an Apex seal ... i thought about trailering my car up there this year , but I REALLY want to road trip in the FD :driving: ... David , good to know you live so close to the Dragon , in case something goes wrong with the car  ... BTW , will each day be filled by events , or will there be any time to do anything AT the Village ??

fikren

NO...you must not touch anything, you must show up at the scheduled times, you must check in every 30 mins with an event supervisor, you must not talk to anyone, and lights out are at 9:30pm with a 6am wake up.

Actually I think Phil has some things lined up but I do believe there will be ample time to do some things on your own if you want. (if theres not the wife is going to beat me :beatdeadhorse5:)

This year will take some driving adjustment for me....Last year, I was in the Red 90 Miata, bone stock, but with 45k miles, drove like a new Miata.......
This year, GSL-SE Turbo with worn stock suspension and body roll from hell :D

I took the Vert the first year, the Turbo the last 2 years. Having an extra day the last 2 years for me just to get use to the difference in cars and changes I made really helped. Plus having some extra "clear traffic" driving time was fun.

I know who it is!!!!!
As for getting it to the gap, he needs an enclosed trailer (24/28ft) and a truck that can pull it. I can't wait to see it..... I might even drive down to his house just to see it

sweet cosmo! whose ever it is better bring it!

J2R

just go to wal mart and pick up a gallon of tc-3 outboard 2 cycle. And also get a small bottle, 8oz. This will be your measuring device. To a full tank, dump in the 8oz before filling up, which in a 16 gal fillup puts you at 0.5oz/gal which is ideal for additional injection on top of a questionable OMP. IF you were not running an OMP you would step up to 1oz/gal. Dumping it in prior to fillup helps the gas mix with the premix easier.

Most of my car's life was not premixed, but since I have had it the premix has helped it start and idle slightly better. I do it to raise compression because it is low...owners of newer/lower mile vehicles can do it to prevent compression loss in the first place.

I know I am late into reading this... But is it safe to do this? May be a stupid question since some are doing this for good. But I am always scared of screwing my 8 up, which the main reason why I don't touch anything under the hood besides regular maintenance. Are there any cons?

I don't have an idle problem and mine has 55k (04) on it. But Mike's has 52k (04) and has rough idle. The difference between his and mine is that mine was created in (GT)Jan of 04 and his is (T)Jun of 03. I have noticed some differences, his is much stiffer in the gears and steering. Mine is flexible but catches the shifts faster. Both are manual.

Does anyone have any insights on this? This has been on my mind. I am still waiting for my baby to come home. I had my VR put through a cosmetic refresh. Just had the VR completely repainted, new head lights and windshield. I had a gravel truck mess it up pretty bad. :9898:

Why would you need a 24 foot trailer to pull a 16 foot car?

Kevin,
If I remember right he said the car was 18' long. I personally would use a 24' for piece of mind but a 20' might work although tight! And with that car being mint....... well I would use the 24'
But anyhow he only has a F150 with no brake box / tow package so again I would not tow an enclosed 20ft - 24ft trailer with that truck that far.

He is looking at his options to getting it to the gap like Phil said. Lets hope we see it.

Herblenny
03-19-2008, 08:13 AM
J2R, I been pre mixing my 8 for about a week now.. So far, no issues. Many people have been doing it and shouldn't be an issue.

Chad, So,... You don't have your enclosed trailer any more?? I told him to call you because I thought you had one.

I hope "he" brings it to the Gap. I know he said he wants to only show but no one will appreciate his car more than bunch of rotary guys.. And there wouldn't be as many rotary guys at one place like DGRR...

WE3RX7

djmtsu

If that is the same one I saw for sale a few weeks ago, then it should be 100% legal already. All he has to do is register it and drive it to DGRR!!!

J2R
03-19-2008, 12:03 PM
Don't mind me, I'm just a lowly rotary engine builder of hundreds of stock and modded street engines over the last 8 years, as well as a turbo rx7 and an rx8 owner...both cars use premix.

Hey I am sorry, I wasn't trying to offend anyone.

Chad, So,... You don't have your enclosed trailer any more?? I told him to call you because I thought you had one.

Nope sold it for $5200 a few months back. Only 200 miles on it and cost 6k.

As for his car, I don't blame him wanting to trailer it and have a nice place to park it in case of a rain storm. Heck, if I bring my FD it will be on a trailer so I can keep the miles down. Don't see too many FD's with under 40k.
His car is registered and tagged. Is it for sale....... only if you offer about 30-40K more than he paid for it. Other than that I would say he's gonna keep it.

I somehow put 1200 miles round trip on the Turbo in 2006 and then again in 2007. 2006 had extra miles from the Skyway run we did on Sunday. Last year the difference was made up on the Dragon. I abused it.
