Transmission Tunnel Heat Wrap

What are you guys using for heat wrap in your transmission tunnel, or what do you suggest? I want to crack down on diverting all heat away from the interior as I've removed my A/C finally. The engine and transmission are out of the car right now, so this is a better time than any. All sources I've searched for point towards Thermotec. Is there anything else out there anyone recommends? Some sort of spray?

I have been using either the Thermotec or DEI stuff. I haven't even done it from the exterior yet. I just placed a layer over the tranny hump from the inside under the carpet. Even that made a big difference in my car. No need go broke on the gold stuff IMO. :)

Although to be honest, seeing pics of Adam's engine bay I thought that gold foil was a helluva lot more $ then what it is...

Well it doesn't have the gold bling, but I did use DEI tunnel/heat shield for my FD:

I called DEI and asked them what the best product would be to reduce exhaust temps inside the passenger side of my car. The recommended the heat shield product because it can withstand up to 1,750 degrees in temps and because the adhesive that holds it on is good up to 450 degrees.

So, I installed it on my car. Easy to do as you just trim it to your desired shape, peel off the plastic backing and then apply. As I have a Magnaflow muffler in my mid pipe, I was particularly concerned about this section so it was my area of concentration. Worked out great and my seat of the pants two hour drive says it does a nice job of controlling temps.

FYI, the undercoating material on the car is Quiet Coat (http://www.quietcoat.com/), the best product for eliminating noise from your car. It sprays on and reduces 2X the noise of Dynamat. It also weighs much much less.

Now that I look at this a bit closer, that gold stuff is only $3 more than the non-gold stuff. Its really not that much more expensive.

This is pretty attractive too since it includes a sound barrier.

Yes, and it works. I drove the car to DGRR last month. It's a 7.5 hour drive. The passenger side used to heat up nicely and you could definitely tell it was getting hotter over there than the driver's side. Not on this trip. The shield eliminated the heat issue completely. As for the sound barrier, my car is pretty quiet anyway as I have QuietCoat on the car (see above post) but my father-in-law and I both thought the noise was reduced even more.

How much cleaning was required for the adhesive to stick to the chassis?None. We put it on "as-is" and it is holding fine. The adhesive is super sticky so I don't think you'll have a problem.
