Once i get the ball rolling on my old school project, part of the plan includes using an auto transmission behind the engine i decide on. so what i am curious about is what are the differences of the auto transmission that come behind our rotaries, and are there other opinions available. Especially when determining gear ratios.

From everything I've heard the FC auto option is pretty bad. The FC tranny seems to break fairly easily and is just an overall crap pile.

but what about the turbo cars?

but what about the turbo cars?

I was under the impression they only offered one version.

As far as I am aware, the only turbo rotary offered with an auto (in the USA) was the FD.
Why go with an auto? You have less gears at your disposal, so keeping the engine in it's powerband becomes a bit more difficult, and you will never have any use for the O/D gear. Even if you were geared low enough to make the O/D useable, O/D in auto's are notorious for being delicate and unable to handle hard use, which is why they shift out of O/D at the slightest load.

Some of the J-specs come with auto transmissions.
All J-spec FC's were turbo'd.
They were made by JATCO - Japan Auto Trans CO.
Those transmissions do not hold too much power - anything over 300hp is asking for trouble.

trying to keep a possible old school project in the automatic format it comes in. I know IPT does work with the JATCO trans.
