Waiting for a new master cylinder to come in so i can start driving it (and stopping it). Also have to mount two tires onto the other two S5 turbo wheels so i get them on the fronts!

the cats are clogged. Which is why the car makes absolutely no power. Going to handle this tonight or tomorrow.

HA - Ohio gets crazy bad snow though too. At least in the Medina/Hudson area my family lives in... although I'm sure CO is pretty horrible too! How bad is CO on salting the roads? OH is nuts when it comes to that stuff - it'll rust a car out in 5 years!

Any reason why you're using the T2 wheels on the vert and the vert wheels on the T2? Doesnt look bad, just curious....

Yea i lived east of Cleveland most of my life so i know what Ohio winter can bring. Its odd out here. It was 60 degree two days before the snow came tearing in. Then it was 55 degrees the day after. The biggest issue is they don't plow all that much and they use a mostly cinder mix with a wee bit of salt, which as a whole they use somewhat sparingly. Unlike Ohio where if they see a snowflake they start dropping salt like no ones business.

The turbo II is down currently, and i much prefer the looks of the turbo wheels on the vert (since it runs)

Cool. Yea - I sometimes wish VA would be as pro-active w/ snow removal as OH. Both my uncle and cousin who live in OH work and work for the city doing snow removal, etc during the winter just laugh at us Virginians.

Good luck on the vert - put some winter tires on the other rims :)

nice, I have a vert too, but my seats were NOWHERE near as nice condition, and my car is a 91, lol.

Have you considered using a Miata Torsen diff? I know that they drop right into an N/A diff housing, and work quite well for low HP cars. I want one myself, but dont know if I should rather save up, and get the FD torsen +turbo housing and trans...

actually, come to think of it, that would be a killer setup, turbo trans, new preformance clutch, and FD torsen diff, unless you go nuts, this seems like a pretty solid drivetrain! :D

(plus you can get the Banzai poly engine and trans mounts in the process, since yours are probably not in that great a shape, worthy investment btw!)

Cats are de-clogged (punched out) and the brakes actually function!

Altitude still sucks but at least the car can get out of its own way and well....stop.

One tip for night shots:

turn off the flash, and use a tripod! no need for a new camera!

That helps a HELL of a lot with longer exposure pictures!

i had it on "iso" setting which i really have no idea what is other than it seems to take the best pictures all around and doesnt ever use the flash

i have a tripod but for most of the shots i had the camera against something to get the angles (guardrail, concrete ledge etc) but i still had a bit of the whole motion deal from just holding it.

still drives fine minus some pulling. Just needs a door and some 1/4 panel work.

02-13-2009, 02:23 AM
Ouch! I was about to comment about how nice it is, it still is nice - but that unibody work is going to suck since you just can't replace it (that's what I do anyway lol)

I usually don't like verts, but yours looks pretty clean, very nice find.

Hopefully his insurance covers the repairs. :(

Whizbang
02-13-2009, 02:28 AM
the 1/4 panels is mostly scraped. Nothing really dented. Door is FUBAR but that is easily replaced. The door frame isnt affected. Had my former boss who runs a body shop check it out and he says its easily fixable so we are going to make the car as good as new.

BTW:You can think that on the bright side, this gives you a great excuse to do add any aero parts (like turbo sideskirts or an S5 conversion) full repaint, wetsand, buff, and polish it till the paint looks like a mirror!

Whizbang
02-13-2009, 11:43 AM
i wanted for sure to repaint the car. Didnt even think about doing the S5 front. Might be worth investigating.

i also want to get rid of that ridiculous aftermarket antenna

so yea got my estimate. Around 4200 - 3000 depending on the location. Waiting to see what insurance wants to do. Hope to be going with the Turbo hood (for future use) the S5 front and that MS Corksport replica lip while getting everything done.

Aw man - I just checked in on this thread and had no idea you got wacked! Glad their covering it though.

It'll be a really nice vert with fresh paint, T2 hood and S5 aero... sometimes getting hit is a blessing in disguise. Too bad yours was pretty clean to start with though...

Max777
02-19-2009, 09:46 PM
as far as the corksport lip, I just wanted to let you know about Shine Auto Quality replica parts. Are you going to make this car fast? Shine auto produces very high quality replica parts (better fit than the real thing!) and they have a nice selection of:

reverse vented hood
OEM look wide fenders
Turbo 2 lip spoiler
Half bumper aero
sideskirts
FC2000 conversion bumper
Rear "spats" (Look up Kevin Landers' car. These are add on pieces that go on the side of the rear bumper, and give the car a really nice look.)

Just wanted to mention in case you were interested.

Really? Total it? Why? Does that mean it now has a salvage title? The needed repair was not even that bad really, so wtf? That sucks... a lot.
