Well I'm finally starting my build thread, even though it's going to take a few months before the car will be done. This is somewhat of an overview of what I'm planning on doing to the car. I'll post updates once they occur. I'll start out by listing whats been done to my car up to now.

I have an '89 GTUs that's been my daily driver/drift car for about two years now. When I bought it, it was a complete pile of crap. The motor had been beaten to shit, tranny was garbage, interior was disgusting, engine bay was haggard as hell. I proceeded to swap everything from my GXL into the GTUs. Full interior, engine and tranny. I did keep the manual windows though. Other than that, I had some minor suspension work, weight reduction, quick release steering wheel, racing seat, racing beat header, test pipe, corksport catback, random wheels and a carbon fiber TII hood.

Here's a few pictures of my car to show what it looked like before I started tearing it apart.

I had three different S5 NA motor's in the car, so after the last one blew I finally decided to do a turbo swap. I just bought a Jspec S4 TII motor/tranny from a friend of mine for $500. It came with no turbo, no emissions, all block off plates installed, greddy TB elbow, two GSL-SE 680cc injectors in the primaries and two 1000cc injectors from an RB26 for the secondaries, a brand new alternator with a dual belt pulley, and a chopped up wiring harness from who knows what EMS. It also had a decently used centerforce clutch on there, but I want to switch to a 6-puck anyways, so I took it off.

I plan on getting a haltech for this. I'm searching around for something used for now. E6K's are decently priced when used. I'm also contemplating buying a painless wiring kit for the chassis harness, but I'm not sure yet.

I've got a t04e hybrid turbo setup that I'm buying off a friend, as well as a downpipe and pre-silencer, and then i already have the corksport catback(with an added resonator welded into it :D). So it should be fairly quiet compared to the NA setup.

I'm going to make some new oil cooler lines out of steel braided line and some AN fittings. I'm also going to be doing an FMIC setup. I don't see an issue with heat since it's already winter time. And since it doesn't snow in Arizona, I can actually drive the car around in winter, haha. I'm torn between two different blow off valves, either the HKS SSQV or the Turbonetics Raptor. Both can easily be recirculated if I ever decide to stop being a ricer :P.

I have a 5one5 triple gauge pod that replaces the idiot cluster. I'll probably do the normal Water temp, oil pressure and wideband for that pod. I have a seperate Trust boost gauge with it's own pod that I'll place somewhere.

Once I get the car driving again I'm going to start into the body and suspension. I've got a GP Sports knock off kit(it was cheap :P) to put on, as well as a set of D2 coilovers and a front and rear strut bar.

In my spare time I'm going to remove all the sound deadening material with some dry ice. I've already removed all the interior from the car. I also started to modify my stock seat rails in order to get them to fit on my sparco seat. It was really easy actually, I only needed to make one of the holes bigger on the rail and put a washer on there to get it to line up wit the holes on the sparco seat.

As you can see here, it's really simple.

I'm pretty much turning mine into a full on track ready car, and it will still pass emissions. I'll be posting updates as I make them, but I figured I'd start the thread now in case anyone has any input on my ideas.

Nice project you got there. Not a fan of the lazy eyes but its your car. Good Luck and I look forward to the future of your build!

One of my headlight motors broke, so instead of keeping them up all the time(which I think looks retarded) I did the sleepy eye thing. *shrugs*, I like it.

Put in some ARP extended wheel studs and DTSS eliminator bushings. Just thought I'd share .

Finally picked up the turbo and got a full 3" turbo back exhaust. Coilovers are on too. I'm getting the blow off valve and clutch in a few weeks. If anyone has an fmic piping setup for sale let me know. :)

I need to lower them first, I just installed them because i sold my old spring/strut setup. But I'll definitely get pics up soon. And as soon as I get the motor on a stand I'll be installing everything on that and getting it ready to drop in.

I just picked up a TII rolling chassis tonight. I'm going to swap the rear end into my car.

I'm swapping my power steering rack and then dropping the motor in. After that I'm putting the rear end in. Should be up and running shortly and just in time for the next track event. Pictures coming soon.

Small updates. I pulled the front suspension off to replace the wheel studs and so I could pull out the steering rack to replace it with a new one that doesnt leak.

Once the front end is done I'll be putting the motor in. And then swapping out the rear end for the TII rear end so I can get it running. Should be done next week sometime!

Well sad news. After I bought my TII, this car got put on the back burner. I ended up parting it out and selling the chassis to a local guy who wanted to build it up. Sold it along with a TII short block and TII tranny. Hopefully he gets it up and running soon. I'll be starting a new build thread for my TII now instead.
