Live in South Florida. I have had my RX-8 since 2004 loaded standard shift except for nav. Drop in K&N, only mod. 18,000 miles on my re-built motor and runs absolutely great. I have always owned something that was great on the curves but dollar for dollar, the RX-8 is the best. Love road racing as a fan for many years. Found you via the Mazda Forum and also member of the RX-8 Club.

welcome! what brought about a rebuild?
Factory re-call. The old engine seemed to be running fine when I received the re-call. The local dealer, Ocean Mazda put me in a free rental and was completed in three days. When I got the car back, I noticed a slight hesitation in the low RPM range. They took the car back into the shop and has run great since. I did have them put a new clutch in when they installed the new motor, $635.00. They also installed a different starter and alternator at their cost when they installed the new motor. I asked how I should drive the car with the re-build. The tech said to run the piss out of it. The re-build does have more power than the original motor. These guys have known me for years at Ocean as I have purchased many Mazda's and they know how I drive. Very aggressive. I just bought my wife a new Mazda Tribute 4cyl, which she loves. good mileage to.
Thank you.

PaPa Bear....Welcome to the site. I go to Miami a lot. Like every weekend I am at the Hialeah Gardens Hang Out spots just chilling and breaking necks all over...
My cuz has an Rx-8. He has a good amount of milage on her already and she has been at the dealer quite a bit for hesitation and flooding on start up. They have not changed the motor yet though. I would like to have a nice RX meet some time soon around the Fort Lauderdale area.
Be safe and welcome to the site.
This is me.....
