View Full Version : Is my OMP broken?

now, when my car did run, I THINK the OMP worked, because the car did not go into "limp mode" and was still quite fast even with one stuck 6th port...
After I took it off the old engine, cleaned it up, and found this crack in the plastic:

how bad is that? Do I need to buy another unit? Should this one still work ok untill I can find another pump? Can I just epoxy it and call it a day? Is that plastic thing just a cover for the motor or what?

Looks like a crack in the 'stepper motor' case. I would use it, but it would be on my list to replace later. As far as I know, there isn't any oil that moves through there, so you should be good.
And yes, if it was fucked, limp home mode would kick in.

Thank god!!! I was hoping that these two issues were not too much of a big deal, and you really saved me there! Should I use some RTV with the new gasket when I put it back on btw? I just got some new hose per evil forum write up, so I'm gonna be redoing the OMP lines...
Again, thanks, our club rocks because of people like you man! :D

When we built FerociousP's FC we did use a thin layer of rtv, no issues so far.
I am on the fence about the OMP line write up. He did it, and the lines just do not want to fill. We swapped in different OMP's, and it didn't make a difference. Because of this, he has been running premix, and failing emissions.
Don't take that story as a warning, it might just be his FC (cursed). They obviously work or people wouldn't build them!!
Thanks for the compliment.

my plan is to eventually go RTEK, and use an adaptor so I can have a 2stroke reservouir and the 4 stroke oil wont get burned in the combustion chamber. I read the problem with filling too... oh well, it's better than no lines and since I'm S5 i cant remove my omp just yet!

At least you can go Rtek. They have slacked on the S5 TII ECU. And Zeal has dropped the ball on the Megasquirt PNP for the S5 TII's as well.
PFC->Banzai Adapter for me it is. (dammit)

Is the PFC that bad? I would RATHER run PFC I think. Or the Motec like that one guy with a black 88,, but then, what do I know? :D

Actually its the opposite, the PFC is that good
But I have to buy the PFC, Commander, and Banzai kit. After all that it comes in at the same, or more than a true standalone. The keeper is that is utilizes the stock harness, so no having to loom and run all new wires.
Ah, decisions, decisions.

I don't remember RTV, but I got a new o-ring for the next 5 times I took the damn thing on/off and tried different ones... the lines still don't want to fill even after pressure testing them and replacing the injectors... bah... and mine doesn't go into limp mode either.
it is cursed.

for me, one of those "Dream mods" is a stack cluster, a motec, and full new custom wiring for everything.
Also, ?I just got my lines today, and maybe it's just me, but they seems a hair bigger in OD then the old ones, but maybe those just shrunk a bit or something?
