So i think i may have figured out whats up with my idle issues. Going to investigate when i get out of work.
So i used to have a p/s computer error code come up via the beeping. Never figured out what it was. NOW though my car likes to idle high, but its random on when it does it.
After looking through the FSM i found the "Air Supply Valve". It supplies air to the dynamic chamber during p/s operation and hot starting.
So after thinking for a moment i realized that if this device is malfunctioning it could be toyin with my idle. And it makes sense given the p/s error code i was getting.

okay so disconnecting it did nothing. Drove it around on lunch time, still seemed to have something trying to pull the idle up.
Disconnected the BAC and now its sitting pretty (so far). Going to continue driving it to see if it truely is the problem.

okay so i guess my car was just being nice yesterday. This morning its back to the same shit again.
What else can cause a high idle aside from the BAC, the Air Bypass Solenoid and the Air Supply Valve, which are all unplugged....
Things i might be having to pursue are
1. Thermowax? Seems like a long shot. I doubt the thermowax could yeild 2000 or higher idles.
2. TPS?
3. Vacuum leak?
4. Perhaps a wiring problem?

i ordered a set of block off plates from Kevin's ebay store, so once they arrive, im going to start eliminating any thing that might be a source of trouble. Plus where i am moving they don't have emissions testing.

you are so lucky mine does not throw a code I think I know what it is but right now it is acting right. SO NO MORE TWEEKING UNTIL IT ACTS UP AGAIN.

id say 1/2 lucky. While its nice that i can remove all the emissions crap to simplify it, the car will still find a way to screw with me.

so this is what the FSM wants me to do:
"check that throttle valves operate smoothly" {checked, worked fine}
|
"inspect air intake system for leaks" {possible}
|
"check accelerator cable" {checked, worked fine}
|
"check operation of bypass air control BAC" {unplugged, seems to idle lower}
|
"check operation of air bypass soleniod" {currently unplugged}
|
"check operation of air supply valve" {currently unplugged}
|
"check 3B terminal voltage at control unit" {????}
|
"check idle speed" {hard to check since problem is random}
|
"check timing" {possible?}
|
"confirm fast idle cam releases from roller" {possible}
|
"check operation of dashpot" {seemed fine when i checked it}
|
"check air flow meter" {dont have a spare}
|
"check air bypass valve" {not sure how that would effect things}
|
"check fuel pressure"
|
"check control unit"

your going to hate me but when we played with mine we hatd to make sure everything was alinged/gauged correct to even steady out the idle. It took many days and attempts before everything got to where it would idle at 1500 and drop to 900 then repeat this "breathing" idle.
