Sounds like your TPS is dead. Check it according to the Heynes manual and let us know if its still good.

Have you checked the fuses?

Well that's a load of shit. His car would still start with a dead TPS and it has nothing to do with the tach.

im worried that its in the harness. car started fine after i played around with a few connections....

it did this earlier this week as well but started, just had no tach. Then when you were going over 5 mph it has a two beep repeating noise going on the entire time you were driving...

Because the power steering computer didnt know how fast the engine was spinning.

To me it almost sounds like a crank sensor issue.

I'd check the wiring over and make sure there's no loose connections. Pay clsoe attention to the exposed wires where they enter the rubber grommet in the CAS, I've seen a few as of late with broken insulation there. No crank signal would certainly mean no start.

If the trailing coil was burnt, you'd have no tach, but it should still run it would just be a little sluggish and down on power. Although its a possibility, so you could swap another on since its simple and would rule out one option.

Electronic speed sensor in the speedometer.
