View Full Version : MazdaDayz - GT Live East @VIR Oct 3-5
Once again it’s almost time for GT Live East @ VIR Oct 3-5!!! My car club, the North Carolina Rotaries, will be hosting the MazdaDayz fanfest...all Mazda models are encouraged to come out and make this one of the largest Mazda meets on the east coast!
GT Live brings the widest variety of events to a single weekend on VIR’s calendar with a pair of six-hour enduros for the Grand-American KONI Challenge sports sedans and sports cars; motorcycle stunt riding, drifting, track attack events, static displays, music, and never a dull moment. The KONI Challenge races feature cars from BMW, Porsche, Mustang, Chevrolet, Mazda and more, with star drivers from the worlds of auto racing and show business taking part. More info can be found at www.gtlivetour.com and www.grand-am.com.
To make this experience even better, those attending the MazdaDayz fanfest will be granted special parking access inside the main paddock of VIR! Literally you get to park mere feet from fully prepped race cars and be able to take in the sights and sounds of this historic race track. Our club will also set up a meet/greet with many of the KONI Challenge Mazda drivers and crew. Also, I can guarantee a chance to sit and take pictures inside of a KONI Challenge prepped RX-8 race car. In the coming weeks I will provide more info on our sponsors for the event and how to obtain your parking pass prior to the event.
As of right now I am just trying to gain info on the interest level for this type of event. Please feel free to contact me either by PM or email at i8u@inbox.com. Please mark subject as GT Live, thanks!

COOL!!! Sounds great! Don't forget to add it to the Calendar
http://www.rotarycarclub.com/calendar.php?s=&c=1&week=&month=10&year=2008 (http://www.rotarycarclub.com/calendar.php)
and hopefully RCC Magazine will be able to cover your event! You can also post your Race schedule to see if we can get some ongoing ROAR Racing Coverage.
Nic, I posted in Greg's thread as well ... would it be a feasible idea to combine our two groups? We just had a meet this past weekend and everyone is pretty positive about getting the CVMC together as a group and driving down. We could have a massive corner of the paddock parking lot covered with Mazda's!
If it's workable, let me know about the fees associated with group reservations if you guys have gotten that far.
John, bring 'em all! As far as group reservations, I know some of the Raleigh group is looking at renting a house for those of them that are going. I will be staying with the team. I will talk to Greg about setting some some thing up though and get with you to see what you wanna do.
Since we're only an hour away, some are just going to drive back and forth. Some are doing a hotel in Danville. I'll look into one of the tarp/tent deals too. It'd be nice to have a couple of places to get out of the sun and chill.

Sounds like you need to hit up another family member for that job Bill.

Nic, was there something to the rumor that we need to register our cars for parking a second time?
As far as I know, NO, I will check with Steve to be sure though.

I'm glad I waited. My GF has graciously offered to pick my sister up from the airport for me on the 4th so that I can attend this event :)
Count me in for all three days AND that discount code!
John - do you have a group caravaning down for the event? I think myself and one other RX guy will be coming down Friday...
I haven't gotten firm commitments from everyone yet to set up a caravan. Not even sure about my own schedule. But it would be an impressive entrance, I'll work on it and let you know.
Glad you guys will make it!

I8U - are we suppose to get some kind of passes in the mail for the parking or how does that work exactly?

Its a weekend though, you could at least hit up Saturday. It'd be a quick run from Blacksburg over to VIR.
We will probably miss half of Friday as I'm not driving down until mid day anyways...

It's not so much the weekend that poses the problem but the fact that midterms are right around there and I'll be hitting the books similar to this guy::banghead:

I'm assuming the answer to my previous question is no? :cuss:

You should get an email confirmation Snake. They'll have you on a list when you get there and you get a parking pass.

Ok, good...just making sure I didn't miss anything. This is my first time going to an event like this so excuse my ignorance. :)
Thanks for speaking up for me John, been a little busy lately.
NEW INFO!!!
The free AutoX event has been changed to the WRX Track Attack...please refer to www.gtlivetour.com for further info.
From what I was told, by registering for this event you get to set a time, session and heat cycle to drive an '09 WRX STi in an autoX setting. I, myself, have registered for this one...I really want to see what the hype is all about of a WRX.
See everyone there!
So what did you think of the WRX Nic? Not much of a track to test her on.
An awesome place to have a Mazda meet!
