Hey guys, Im building a second engine, just to try parts and check first handed what works and what does not work.
I will post updates on this thread.
Engine will be a half bridge 12A (first time porting)
Max engine speed 8500rpm
NOT balanced, not lightened
no new bearings.... no new apex seals... no new housings...
(would you cut and port brand new housings? I ported the hell out of them and didnt feel a thing)
Im planning on feeding this monster with 4 honda cbr 600 rr 40mm individual throttle bodies (I paid 25U$S for them). They came with 8 injectors of unknown flow (my guess 190cc)
Question 1º: anyone knows the fuel requirements of a half bridge 12a?
Question 2º: on the evil forum a norwegian guy modified his bearings himself. Good idea or bad idea??? If good, what would you do?

Sounds a bit risky. Especially the bearing modification. I like the ITB idea though. I've wanted to do that for years.

160mm of flow for a half bp 12A might be a bit much, lol. But hey - if you've got the fuel for it!

Coilovers from a Subaru Impreza.
The lower part of the coil does not match the strut support.
2 options,
1º cut that and weld something better
2º cut the coil to match the strut
I think I will go for nº2

Quad 40mm ITBs might work pretty well on a half-bridge. There are fuel flow calculators you can use, I'll try to dig one up for you.
Edit: There's one at the bottom of this page: http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx You can set the number of injectors to 2 to find out the total fuel flow requirements for each rotor, and then you can mix and match injectors to reach this number.
Remember, when the time comes, vids are mandatory.

Also, what kind of springs are they? You don't want to cut too much and affect handling. Then again, you're using a Subaru part so who knows how it was going to handle to begin with. Can't wait till you finish your Frankenstein monster though. Vids are mandatory or BAN!

hehehe dont worry, I have a cam.
I wont cut them, the lenght is alright I just have to cut the "silver" part not the "red" part
If you check the re-speed coilovers, they are cutted the same way
The REAL challenge will be the rear springs and coils

I wouldn't cut the adjustable sleeves. I would follow suit with ReSpeed and Ground Control, by cutting off the spring perch, and welding on a new one.
I have purchased a set of GC coilovers that came with S3 strut housings already modded. I have decided to make my own lower perch, and mod my current S2 strut housings. I'm only going this route due to the fact that my front rotors are brand new S2 rotors, and I don't want to purchase new S3 front rotors and bearings.
Besides, a freind of mine has a track car with SE suspension and similar coilovers. If he bends a strut housing, we'll already have spares that are modded.
An added advantage to fabricating a new spring perch, you can set it at the height you want, and have more adjustment room, compared to trimming the coilovers to fit the stock perch.

My initial thought was to do exactly that, but I was unable to find someone willing to take the time to weld a new perch.
I dont have the skills to do it :(
