I am puzzled if my clutch is going, here is what is going on 1st, 2nd and 3rd are fine no slippng but while I am in fourth and start to build boost then go WOT it will slip for a second then grip...

What I am wondering is that I can do a burn out without slippage or punch it in 1st second or third but in fourth gear it slips for a second..

Wise people let me know..

Thanks in advance

Kai

You need a new clutch disk

^Yep. It's only slips in higher gears because it's loaded more than in lower gears.

I ran mine like this a little too long, had to replace the flywheel too.

Well anytime you replace a clutch you should go ahead and have the flywheel resurfaced. It is only about $30.00 at any local machine shop.

ok, would NOT doing that cause any problems down the road?

I tried to have it resurfaced, after breaking three cutting tools, the shop sent it back. I just got a lightened flywheel and sent the old OEM one to the scrap heap. I had driven to a seasons worth of autocrosses with it slipping, but since it was okay in first and second (autoxing) i kept putting it off.

Just excessive wear on the new clutch disc and if the flywheel is really rough it will cause horrible chatter when taking off in first gear or shifting in to 2nd at low rpms.

how about reverse?

I guess you would probably see the symptom in reverse also, Im pretty sure you would.

AHA! thanks. You indirectly helped me figure out an issue I've been having. I hate it when it's my fault too. Gotta go get the flywheel checked.

Haha, I overlooked this a couple times when I first started working on cars. Sometimes you get lucky but when a flywheel is really rough it will drive you crazy with the chatter.

chatter and random noise. I'll have to get it fixed.
