Mazda sent me the papers stating they have officially extended the engine warranty on the '04-'08 Renesis engines for 8 years (from date of purchase) and 100K miles! I knew about this a while ago but was not allowed to make posts about it (although I know other already had).

If you haven't got your paperwork yet, you should be getting it. I'm glad I got the car now as I know I wont put 65K more miles on it in the next 4 years!

I feel like the engine might go out around 75K miles though :Angel_anim:

I really hope my engine never goes out, but I am really glad to have this security now.

This is all fine and dandy but Mazda has figured out yet another way to screw the customer...let's say your motor does go to rotary heaven. Mazda will only cover the engine core and requires the customer to shell out the $2500+ in all brand new OEM engine accessories and labor to have the engine warrantied at all. I guess it's a good thing I already have a rebuilt renny to throw in once this one goes!

^ I didn't read that part yet, hmm...

Even still, why would you need to get OEM accessories if the stockers work just fine? And besides, after the original engine pops, I don't care if they don't warranty the new one, lol.

Yeah man, apparently Mazda will only bite the cost of the motor and labor if you replace all the accessories with new ones. Check this out...got it off the rx8club:

So what is causing these problems on the RX8's?

Oil pump doesn't pump enough oil into the compression chambers to keep the internals lubricated enough is what I've heard. I don't know if that is true or not, though.

This is one problem of the main problems...Mazda has tried the band-aid fix and has tried re-calibrating the PCM a few times but that only helps for so long. I swear by premixing I have extended the life on the re-built motor I have in the car now. Hopefully, once the new motor is released the OMP problem will be fixed...I do know they are now gonna use 3 oil injectors per rotor instead of the 2 we currently have so that should be a huge improvement!

I just got a replacement motor...absolutely free of charge. I was told that the shop probably lost money on labor, from what Mazda paid them to do my swap, but they didn't hesitate to do it anyway
