After 8 months of waiting, my RE Amemiya N1 hood has finally arrived!!

Nice hood. That wait must've been torture.

Yea, the wait was tough. A friend of mine and myself ordered several items from RE Amemiya at Sevenstock X last September. They were offering free shipping for any orders placed at the event. If I had known at the time that it would take 8 months to arrive, I might have had second thoughts, but oh well. Finally have it and I'm happy with the final product.

free shipping directly from Amemiya makes it worth the wait. I'm sure they were waiting to fill a container.

Thanks everyone!
Sending it off for paint in a couple of weeks. Plan to somehow mask the Amemiya label on the backside to preserve the "authenticity" of the hood. Do most who paint CF hoods paint all of the underside as well, or do some leave it raw CF?

you could have the paint shop do a sort of fade from carbon to paint around the writing, then clear coat it all.

Wow! congrats! lets just say that i'm super jealous and that i could never bring myself to get a knock off of that hood.

About $1300 USD.

Don't you mean AD9? I just got the same one, though in fg. The N1 was the rotary extreme nomenclature for the knockoff.

Nice looking hood. But dam 8 months for a hood to come in. I'm puting in a order tomorow for RE-Amemiya AC037 Front Body Kit with RE-Amemiya AC 987 Rear Body Kit. I hope it does not take that long for my order to come in.
Enjoy your Hood

Thanks! Good luck with yours as well. Post some pics once it arrives and let me know how long yours takes.

Yes, understood on the N1 versus AD9 nomenclature. Enjoy your hood as well.

It will probably take just as long, as everything is made to order, I waited 4 months just for my Fender Mirrors and 5 months for my bumper, what more a whole kit...
But you never know....

Did you just call and work directly with Yuneki (sp)?

All parts are back from paint (nose, headlight covers and hood) so I just did a quick mockup without bolting everything back down, hence the fender-to-nose seam gap. However, this will give everyone an idea on how it will look...
Engine build to come back next week....

You need a front lip or different front bumper sir. :driving:

....ahhhh, did you read the entire post? I said it was a quick mockup to check color match. No bolts were attached, and YES, I have the R1 front spoiler in my garage. Trust me... things will fit perfectly...;)

Hood looks great, but I just never have liked the stock front bumpers on the 93-98 FDs. Maybe a 99+ bumper would help set it off a little more.

I hear what you're saying and I appreciate the input. Believe me, I went back on forth on whether to keep the stock front end or go '99 spec, but in the end, I wanted a look that was truer to the original U.S. spec CYM, with some J-spec flair. It's just a matter of taste, and for now I'm going to try out this look for awhile!

OK fc guy in the FD world... lol
I dont want to say the wrong thing but my .02 is this..
I never liked that style hood, and painting carbon fiber IMO usually never seems to be worth it (especially if u have a stock alum hood and goign to carbon fiber normally u dont gain much but looks)
On your car.. (since that is what we are talking about)
I LOVE IT..
it looks real good, the hood after being painted looks MUCH BETTER KUDOS TO YOU SIR!!!
Looks great and thx for sharing.. u have alot of patience for waiting 8mo though :)
btw that hood on an FC.. I never liked..

With a vented hood you indeed do gain alot. Maybe only a pound of weight but oh so much is the cooling improved.

yeah this is true.. cooling is improved is if the hood is vented well. however with the drip tray on I cant see how this hood will be really all that extra effective at cooling with those little slots in it.

Well if you ever join the 3rd gen. then you'll start to understand the many reasons for a vented hood. A lot of it is just to release the hot air and keeps engine bay temps down especially after a drive. Prolongs life for all rubber, plastic, and wiring components. :icon_tup:

Nice hood man, painful wait time, but doesn't matter now that you have it. I would've left it carbon fiber with just a clear coat, but it looks good either way.

Looks great. Fitment actually looks better than most pics I've seen. How is fitment in person?
Good choice on sticking with the 93-95 front bumper. I think its the best looking option out there.

Got my kit in not too shabby 4 month wait. It all looks good the quality is great.
Except they made a mistake on my order.. The hood was supposed to be carbon fiber, I did not receive the front head lights with the supporting brackets or anything. R-E said the shipping company might still have the lights... Just some BS. But it looks like they will fix it and ship me a new carbon fiber hood and hopefully the shipping company still have my lights....
Enjoy

albertomg... thanks for the compliment. Yes, I know that most brag about how fitment on their aftermarket hoods is "perfect" only to see the hood in person and find that it has "some" gaps that weren't mentioned, but this one is incredible. Dead nuts perfect in keeping with the stock hood's dimensions.
As others have mentioned, cooling is the main benefit. I took data with my old "RotaryExtreme" AD9 hood and compared to the stock hood, I saw an average 3 to 5C drop in engine operating temps. That makes a big difference here in Phoenix duing the summertime.
To Slow... awesome kit. Would like to see more detailed pics of that motor??

Looks tasty. Motor and Bodywork. I liked the AC 037/987 over the Super Greddy look myself.
I was in Phoenix/Chandler Area over the long weekend. Would have liked to see the hood in person again, but it was too much of a last minute trip
=(
Who fabricated that intake manifold for the 20B? Looks great!
