nice buy! Mileage? TII swap?
FirstRotaryExp

188,888 miles on the clock, looks to have newer shocks/struts, underbody has no rust, doesnt smoke on startup and considering its a vert it gets up and goes almost as well as my NA. But I attribute that to the lack of exhaust restictions. Powersteering works, AC 'might' work if i decide to use it.
But this is n ot a T2 swap car, bought it mainly to use the wheels and maybe the hood and then my buddy is gonna buy it off me to swap his verts interior over since his body isnt in great shape and neither is his top.

Damn that is a good deal!!
Seems like Cheap 7's O'plenty can be found in Blount County!!
Is that a lawn mower is see sinking in your yard?
FirstRotaryExp
04-25-2008, 05:55 PM
yes...yes it is a lawnmower thats not so much as sinking...as the leaves just pile up around it higher.
Cleaned it out and found 2 quarts of oil, $3 in change, lots of lil tools a nice clean aluminum spare tire and managed to fix a bit of the "trailer hitch" damage as im going to call it as thats just what it looks like.
Me and my buddy passed up buying a 83 limited edition last week since it looked to be too much work, needed a couple doors, fenders, seats, fusible link block, lots f body work to the rear quarters over the wheels and plug wires...it was in "ran when i parked it 3 weeks ago" shape and the guy wanted $600 for it, but the wheels were in great shape.

Is this the same 7 that I've seen sitting at a house on Topside Road?? I've passed it several times.

I have a friend who will soon be selling another black convertible.......great shape, kick-ass 5Zigen wheels, TII harness swap, just needs a TII engine (he bought a house and the 7 fell too far down the priority list). No price has been mentioned as of yet.........but you're right.....LOTS of 7's in Blount County.

But yeah, should hellbent decide to pull the emissions ill hook ya up with em, though i coulda swore i gave someone my emissions bs...

Yeah, you did. I still need more though. :D I'll also undoubtedly break some shit putting stuff on so back-ups are nice. :icon_tup:
I love driving my 7, but I hate getting out smelling like I've been sucking on an exhaust. It's fast enough as is and I'll get a nice flowing cat to not choke it too much. I'm just going to get the suspension pristine and go from there.

Fix your exhaust leaks up front/in the middle and you won't. I have run many a modded rotary with no emissions and never seem to "smell like fuel" because I make sure there are no leaks anywhere in the system. And trust me, I would know...my wife can detect the faintest smell of fuel almost immediately. I can be downstairs and pull a fuel line off a car or something. No shit, within 60 seconds, she comes down and asks if I am spilling gas.
Hmmm, no exhaust leaks that I can detect. Guess it's time for the RB exhaust system. :D
Also, will having the line that went to the charcoal canister open vented be an issue?

If you have a stock exhaust (I dont remember) then ALL of the flanges warp over time and do not seal even if you use new gaskets. You can try to repair it with a LOT of filing or grinding, or you could get some new, thicker flanges and have them welded on. And if you have stock cats (even gutted) then they leak as well...if you pry off the heat shielding, the case cracks at all 4 corners and to seal it you have to weld a small bead to seal the cracks.
This is why most people just take the whole front section out and have a solid pipe welded from the manifold back to the Y, to prevent the possibility of leaks. Even if you didnt think you had leaks before, you'll be surprised how much quieter your car can be once the small collective leaks are sealed.
I have a straight pipe from the manifold to the y pipe. Maybe there's a leak where the downpipe connects to the straight pipe. :dunno:

Well finally got the interior mostly put back together and cleaned up the floor pans and recoated them in some krylon semi-flat black to substitute for carpet. Heres the updated pics of how it looks.

I dunno but they are damn comfy seats, and some soft leather to boot.
Snapped just a few more pics after we got the garbage pile cleanedup and the lawnmower hauled off for repairs.

hmmm thats not a bad idea really, im just picky when it comes to stupid shit like that. But overall its in decent body shape aside from the frontal crap. If hellbent wasnt taking it off my hands I was gonna offer it up to you or David before i tossed it up for sale.

That's what I'm doing... since both my pre cats are hollow, and my main cat seems to be clogged...
Dude, just get a coupe carpet and put it in. The difference is very minimal if at all, from what I know. You dont even have to pull the dash, just cut the area under the radio out with a knife, and leave about 1" worth of material to tuck under the edges of the dash/console.
And verts are DAMN comfortable to get in and go down the road with the top down. No more making a conscious effort not to hit your head on the coupe roof when you get in and out.
well... it's not that hard to pull the dash... :D
