Weather hasn't been cooperating lately. 8-12" tonight giggitty and hopefully grabbing it back from mah shop Sunday. Planning to get on the dyno next Friday. So far it works as advertised.... which is leaps and bounds beyond the PFC. The car actually idles @ 14* where I want it to be... not this -6* bullshit

This may not sound right but I think I had more power carbed, felt like it at least. . efficient, hell no! but it was nitty, gritty, and downright dirty with power in excessively high RPMs (not good for tranny BTW, I'm reminded that I need another now that I mention it). But with that being said. . . Now that I'm EFI and everything is smooth and functioning properly, that may be the very reason for the lackluster feel. . You know, like an RX8 :p I guess my car needs more grit. TURBO?!

No worries, I actually almost forgot where that list was started and still had to search for it.

We shall see, I'm very curious what we can get out of it. It could just be like MC's car.... the first time I tuned it on the dyno it felt great, but on the street the transition wasn't quite right and the car was a little jerky, the boost came up WAY fast because of a slight lean hiccup @ 0psi. Car made 411rwhp @ 14.5psi on an Apexi RX6. MC built the engine and used stock Apex seals so I was a little easier on the tuning than I would be on my car.

Then I got my hands on it a second time. This time my engine, my build, my choice of Apex seals. I spent a day street tuning the car to perfection, then we went to the dyno. This time I got to my normal level of aggression while tuning. Shooting fireballs, bouncing off the rev limiter, etc etc. MC, Bawb, Jack and Levi were there. One particular backfire was rather loud and all four faces went ghost, they thought I blew it. I scoffed and kept tuning. Got to 12.5psi and 397rwhp before a strap broke. MC wouldn't let me go any farther... I was bummed, I could've gotten 425rwhp but it was a little too close to DGRR so we stopped.

A few days later MC called and said something to the effect of, the car is slower than it was before, it's not as violent, it's too predictable, drives like a stock car until you mash the throttle and all the while I'm thinking, these are compliments :rofl: but it wasn't as jerky and knarly and felt slower, even though it was actually faster. So it could be one of those situations where it feels slower, because it's actually smoother and not nearly as violent.

It could also be that you were about 20* retarded when I saw your timing map but without zeroing the timing and getting it on a dyno, throwing that much timing at it could prove detrimental.

That being said, I love me some turbo rotary.... unless it's a renni.... in that case it's like re-electing Obama, you know it's a complete waste of time and going to be nothing but a disappointment so why are we even talking about it?

Here's what I'm trying to do..... Leave the Wednesday the week before DGRR. Drive to MD and spent the night. Thursday leave and drive SOMEWHERE within a few hours of the Villiage. Leave my car, no idea which one, hop a plane to Jacksonville, FL. Spend Thursday or Friday until the following Wednesday or Thursday in Jax than fly back to wherever my car is. Hop in and CARAVAN to DGRR. Drive to CT as normal on Sunday......
Trick is finding a cheap direct flight or I'll just drive all the way to FL which I do not want to do.

Here's what I'm trying to do..... Leave the Wednesday the week before DGRR. Drive to MD and spent the night. Thursday leave and drive SOMEWHERE within a few hours of the Villiage. Leave my car, no idea which one, hop a plane to Jacksonville, FL. Spend Thursday or Friday until the following Wednesday or Thursday in Jax than fly back to wherever my car is. Hop in and CARAVAN to DGRR. Drive to CT as normal on Sunday......
Trick is finding a cheap direct flight or I'll just drive all the way to FL which I do not want to do.

E-fan install was a success, but the desired result was not.

At highway speed, the coolant temps are higher. Only guess is at higher speeds, the fan is creating a blockage and stalling the air through the rad. Didn't have this problem with the fan clutch, but it is always locked on.

Update on my turd.... we (me and dj) replaced afm. Thought that fixed it. No go. Tried adjusting tps. Back to square one. Took all the manifolds off again. Discovered shart gaskets. Ordered new non shart gaskets. If they dont fix the problem im getting a haltech.

What this does is stall the air around the fan, almost like creating a wind blocker, instead of flow. Now, if I set the fan 'on' temp higher, the normal airflow at highway speed should keep the fan from turning on, thus freewheeling and NOT hampering air flow.

I'm going to up the temp at which is comes on and see what happens. Right now it is set to come on at 180, which is too low.

The GM coils that BHR uses for their kit have an auto-discharge to save the coil if the dwell time gets too high. Mazda calc dwell at crank based on voltage and RPM. So if the battery is dying or it's a particularily cold morning and the engine is cranking slowly, the coil can auto discharge and sheer the apex seal.... while starting.
How do I know this, I was warned about the coils YEARS ago by a MoTeC Engineer, and I've seen it, or spoken to someone about it three times now.

Negative. The subframe on the RX8 makes it nearly impossible to get a turbo in a decent spot. The mani's are either too long, or too short, it's just a nightmare no matter how it's done. And I would rather see an LS in an 8 than an N/A 20B.... now a shorty P-Port 20B would be something that I could get on board with :rofl:

Yeah, historically I only get a chance to work on the cars on the weekend. Tonight though, Maggie has her art thing so home is mine until about 22:00. So I'll have the harness laid out on the dining room table striping, crimping, and terminating the harness from the Firewall forward. Saturday after the snow I'll head to the shop and build the back half

Few minutes to get the basemap loaded and the thing running. I'm driving and tuning an FD now that is incredibly similar to Pete's engine. Should need very minor adjustments before he can make the 200is mile run back to MD next weekend

I have a PS2k harness that I could finish up in a day and sell to him with all the sensors needed. Integrating it to his S5 would be slightly time consuming though, like maybe a day to feed it the power, ground and turn on's that it needs.

I've driven my FC 350 miles in damn near 2 years, broken tranny, blown rear giggitty, and I need a new driveshaft, the headlights didn't work out the way I wanted and I still haven't tuned the AI system that I installed YEARS ago. None of that is going to stop me.

The RX8 hasn't been rev'ed over 8k in over a year cause the CAS is fucked up, I melted the cat and fucked the mufflers (btw I built the exhaust from the RB header back) the windshield is fucocked and the rear tires are corded, and to add insult to injury, the PS is randomly acting up.

On top of that I've still got Pete's car to finish and tune, Andy's car to finish and tune, and my cars still set in storage and Mikes car has been loitering for a year now and it's no where near done.... yet.... none of us are sniveling about it :fawk:
