Yes we do have Mazda rotaries here although they are imported and never dealer sold. I've successfully shoehorned an FD3S into a Miata and use it for our local Miata club racing where they had to make a special "open" class just for me. I own and run a small shop doing mostly exotics that have died in a garage where the owner just wants his car running. Last project was a Lotus Esprit S1. I've done a 1st gen RX7 and fell in love with it. Owner not selling and no longer returns my test msgs. I recently found one in a big garage with other cars. It was a rust bucket, not running, tires flat, brakes stuck, hood about rusted out, interior needing lots of work. Only thing going for it was that the engine turned by hand and it was a complete engine plus good papers. I gave what I thought was a very extremely generous offer ($2K) and I got sneered at.
Still looking. Thanks and greetings to all.

Welcome!
That's $2000 in US dollars?? I guess they must be rare over there because here in the US that would go for a few hundred TOPS, due to the condition.
Here is a link to all the manuals you'll ever need, in case you don't have them yet.

Hi Speedjunkie. Yes very rare here thus the premium. However, tomorrow I'll know whether I am he owner of a running rx7 that nly needs a steering box replacement. Price I offered was $8k since it looked really well kept and in very good running condition. I added what I thought was the "I want it badly" to the price. And thanks for the link to the manuals. Very greatly appreciated. Pics to follow if I do get the car. Thanks a lot for the welcome.

Hi Speedjunkie!
Here she is. Just got her into my shop yesterday. Needs work. There's some rust under the batt area. Needing all the weatherstrip. Paint needs touching up. All the bushings. The idlers. Engine will be torn down and rebuilt...by me. Is it ok if I ask questions like...porting when the engine is down?16595

Wow, that is super clean! Good choice!
I don't know much about porting, but I'm sure others on here do.

Thanks speedjunkie. Interior is all intact and clean. Quick question. Can the "big console box" fit the models without it?

I have no idea haha. I don't know what you mean by big console box, or which models have it and which don't. I don't know much about SA/FBs or FCs.

Explain with pictures and I can probably figure it out for you. Not sure what
the big console box refers to.

Let's see if I can add the page from the parts manual.

I didn't know there were models that didn't have that.

Yes that larger console can be used in place of the smaller one. It was an option and came
with it when electric windows were involved I think.

Good to hear since I'm making the order along with the overhaul set from Mazda.
Any suggestions on make for the apex seals? Planning to keep the engine stock but maybe I'll get the Weber kit later on. Advise would be welcome.

Personally I would say stay with the stock Mazda seals if it is going to be naturally aspirated.
