I know the next race isn't until this weekend, but I've got to say that I am extremely impressed with BMW's efforts this year so far. I wasn't expecting them to be as much competition as they are so far, I would really love to see them stay up with the front runners this year, and I'd love to see Mercedes come back up front as well - having three people in dead heat competition for last years season ending was amazing.

I'm all for anyone, but Ferrari. Mercedes/McClaren is my first choice, Renault as 2nd, and BMW as third. Honda and Toyota just aren't as competitive as they should be, given their racing heritages and the Japanese desire to be the standard.

I'm all Ferrari all the way back to the Gilles Villeneuve days. I survived the years when they were crap and couldn't finish a race.
The current driver line up seems to be working, Kimi needs to work on his personality a little. I did see a show that focused on him and he seems to have a funny side, he just hides it well...
One thing to remember, they are the only team that builds both the engine and chassis and thats probably why I stick with them.

The one thing that peeves me about F1 is the cost of the merchandise. I'd like to support the sport, but damn the cost of a mere tshirt: $30-50 at current exchange rates.
I bought a McLaren cap last year for $30.
The one time I saw Kimi smile was the press conference after Brazil last year.......yup, that was about it. It was really really weird.

Formula 1 is cool and all, but it gets pretty boring. There needs to be about 2x the cars and 18x the passing.
However, I respect the engineering and drivers skills. The aerodynamics on those cars are fucking ridiculous. It's about time for some revolutionary breakthrough in aerodynamics.
Number of cars is fine, but more passing is definitely a plus.
Actually, if they keep promoting aerodynamics, there'll be less passing, since the ratio of aero grip vs. mechanical grip is directly proportional to the number of passing ops.
Aero grip works best in clean air, and not so good in dirty air (i.e. following someone).

I was a big Schumacher fan just because of his talent. Massa is probably my favorite driver now, but I'm not particularly fond of Ferrari winning all the time either. After last year's whole thing with Mercedes stealing Ferrari's information, I don't particularly want them to win either. BMW is third on this list, and with the way things are going, they may actually stand somewhat of a good chance so long as they continue to be consistent.

I hate being a statistic watcher, but without cable television currently, it is the only way I can keep tabs on what is going on. I have missed the last couple races, but when I took a look today and saw that Felipe Massa was leading in points, I've got the be honest, that made me extremely excited. Massa has always been a terrific driver, but rarely ever could he hold it together.
I know it is still way too early to tell, but this is making me excited. Looking at the points, as well, it is still anyone's game. Massa, Raikkonen, Kubica, and Hamilton are all extremely close in points.

I 100% agree that Massa is greatly underrated. They were talking about his future in F1 at the beginning of the season as if he didn't have one. Doesn't mean I like Massa much (I would much rather see Kimi win), but he is definitely underrated.
I'm not sure why, but I really don't like Hamilton much. Probably has something to do with his threat to Kimi's championship, but every time I see him on the tv I am hoping he makes a mistake and loses time.

I think last year he had Alonso to talk to and get tips, and the team had Alonso to work with on setting a car up and that helped him alot. Now this year he pretty much has to do everything on his own and that has caused a few of his problems. It's always easier when you have some help than it is to do everything by yourself. If it rains, it will definitely help Hamilton out tons. I don't know what it is about that kid, but he has talent for sure.
My bet is still on Massa. He is damn amazing so long as he keeps his concentration and doesn't make the stupid little mistakes that ruin his ranking every year.
What was going on with Raikkonnen? He is starting behind Alonso, and Alonso shouldn't even be in the same league (just going by cars alone, not driver talent).

^I believe it was one of the BMW-Sauber drivers that broke the rear suspension.
This race was one of the most exciting F1 races I've ever seen. There was plenty of passing and without traction control it is more in the "hands" of the driver than in previous years where a computer was doing alot of the work.

I was interested in how many times Hamilton has sat on the pole and how many total races he's won... This season he's had pole position 3 times and won 4 times. I didn't really think so. The only very exciting stuff was the pit stop by Massa where they let him go and he almost ran into __________, I forgot, and then Kimi's engine blew. Massa led the whole race so not alot of action up front. After the first pit when Hamilton came out and was probably two seconds behind Massa I fell back asleep. It was pretty obvious then where the top 4 or 5 were going to finish unless something happened like a blown engine by Kimi.

Button claimed the tuning was spot on to his driving style for once.
Red Bull clawing their way to the top?
2 - 3 finish...
Attrition was amazing low.
I think only Fisichella and Barichello were the only victims?
Track was fricken' HOT on race day.

Got to see the German GP on replay on SpeedTV early this morning...
Congrads to Mark Webber for the pole and P1 finish!
So it looks like it's a two team race at the mid season point between Red Bull and Brawn GP - two privateer teams!

Congrads to Lewis Hamilton for his first win for McLaren this season at Hungary!
McLaren had the highest placed finish for both drivers as they took 1st and 5th.
McLaren showing signs of vigor at mid-season?
It makes you wonder how Felipe Massa would've done if he didn't crash - Kimi Raikkonen came in 2nd.
Mark Webber rounds out the podium in 3rd - his teammate Sebastian Vettel DNF'd this race - gotta be disappointment for Red Bull.
Brawn GP managed a couple points with Button finishing 7th (Barichello in 10th), so they were basically a non-issue.
That's gotta hurt, as Red Bull is slowly reeling in Brawn GP in both the driver's and constructor's points.

Shaping up to be a great season and... Schumacher is filling in for Massa while he recovers!
Glad to see that it appears Felipe is doing well.
And BMW is calling it quits after this season.
Schumacher vs. Hamilton, should be an interesting race in 3 some-odd weeks.
Wait, it's Valencia....never mind.

I'm sure there was disappoint for many for M.Schumacher not making it for this race.
A prior neck injury preventing him from suiting up for the car.
Congrads to R.Barrichello for winning the European GP at Valencia!
Keen strategy during the two pit stops allow Barrichello to leapfrog competitors to take the win.
Red Bull could've gained precious ground, as J.Button ended up 7th, but a DNF by S.Vettel and an out-of-points finish (9th?) by M.Webber made it a disappointing race for the whole Red Bull team.

Congrads to K.Raikkonen and Ferrari for winning the Belgian GP, but the story has to be G.Fisichella and the Force India team scoring it's first points, pole position in qualifying, and a 2nd place podium finish!
S.Vettel rounds out the podium with a 3rd for Red Bull.
Disappointment for some top drivers L.Hamilton, J.Button, and J.Trulli (qualified 2nd) who DNF'd with a big crash early in the race.

I'm loving the way this year is playing out. Every race is up in the air as is what is going on with the teams and drivers. And next year I think we get 26 cars in the series with the new teams on board.

R.Barrichello notches 2nd win with J.Button coming in 2nd in Monza.
This allows Brawn GP to pad their points versus the 2nd place Red Bull team that showed a dismal performance with M.Webber retiring early and S.Vettel gaining only one point due to a P8 finish.
A.Sutil showed brief glimpses of greatness in the Force India car but was knocked out of the podium at the end of the race.
K.Raikkonen grabbed the last podium spot in 3rd.
L. Hamilton challenged for the top for most of the race, but lost it on the last lap due to aggressive driving.

Great race today! I was able to catch it on the Speed Channel. Sucks for Lewis. Running in third and keeping Jensen on his toes... then crashing out of 3rd on the last lap for a DNF. From the looks of it, he hit pretty hard but was ok.

Two-year suspended ban for Renault over Singapore conspiracy (http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2009/9/9953.html)
FIA hands individual punishments to Briatore and Symonds (http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2009/9/9954.html)
What if Piquet had said no? Would it have made a difference in who won the championship last year. Maybe Massa wouldn't have had the pit incident and gained extra points. Did Renault get off easy? Sure they got rid of the two who instigated it but man this seems as bad or worse than what McLaren did and they had all their points taken away and a huge fine.

I still have the last two races on DVR to watch and there's another coming up this weekend. Massa has been back testing for Ferrari, Alonso is going to Ferrari, Barrichello has possibly signed with Williams, Kubica will take Alonso's place at Renault... I can't keep up with it all.

Yeah the last 2-3 races have been disappointing some IMO because even though he wasn't doing very good the 3-4 guy that had a chance to catch him didn't do anything either.

Good Button finally got his championship. Now it will be interesting to see how he and Brawn GP fare in the coming year(s). Without the massive budget of say McClaren or Ferrari, my guess is they'll be hard pressed to be competitive. Ross may need to pull another miracle out of his hat.

Yeah, sorry I've been out of it since NO CABLE right now - just can't afford the $100 / month (@^#( fees just to get Speed Channel. :(
On a related note, been enjoying WRC seasons 2008 and 2009 on Hulu!!!
Hope they UL 2010 soon!

Bahrain canceled Australia is the 1st race of the season in 6 days. Which IMHO is a proper start to the season. Good riddance to a boring track.
From the preseason, that does not count, Red Bull and Ferrari look fast, Merc GP looks to be a contender now, and McLaren is either playing games or in trouble.
Here is to a very exciting season with lots or dog fights and a close championship race to the end.

It is another season of domination by Red Bull it seems. If this season continues on its current path then it will be a boring season like the season dominated by the all too mighty back then Michael Schumacher. Hopefully things change during the season. I want to see much more competition going on.

What is the FIA going to do now?
Change the scoring system again, like after M.Schu dominated a few years back?
Would be interesting since Jean Todt is now the FIA pres...?
I just started to get into WRC...
Although Seb Loeb has been DOMINATING the past few years, it's a little bit more dramatic.
Looking forward to this season since they are dropping from 2.0 turbo to 1.6 turbo and all new chassis - Citroen DS versus Ford Fiesta with Mini taking a peek?
Well, that's for another thread... :)
