This is a 1987 (build date 10/86) Mazda RX-7 Sport two-door coupe, with a five-speed manual transmission.

The Sport variant was a one-year-only model, built to be sportier than the standard SE but not as heavy as the GXL. Sport features include:

• 15-inch wheels
• Larger ventilated front and rear disc brake rotors
• Larger front calipers with four pistons
• Stiffer springs and shocks
• Aerodynamic add-ons (in front of each wheel and a rear spoiler, see pictures for details)
• Manual window cranks, manual door locks and no rear-window wiper (to save weight)

They didn't do away with all the luxuries, though -- it still has air conditioning, cruise control, power steering and an electric sunroof.

I am the second owner of this car -- I bought it in January 1993 when it had 63K miles on it. It now has just over 108K, and I have every receipt for maintenance and repair since I bought it. No rust, period.

Some details of my ownership:

• Always garaged, and only driven in rain maybe five times. NEVER driven in snow, ice or when there might be salt residue on the roads.

• Oil and filter changed on average every 1,500 miles, as it has an average annual mileage over just over 2K a year.

• Seats from a 1990 RX-7 GTu (with adjustable height) were installed in 2000.

• The leather steering wheel from an RX-7 Turbo was installed around 1997. The original plastic wheel is included.

• A newer AM/FM/CD/USB/Aux stereo is installed, with upgraded speakers all around. Original equipment power antenna still works just fine.

• Recent major overhauls include the brakes -- all new rotors, calipers, hoses, pads, master cylinder, brake booster -- and the clutch master and slave cylinders.

• A goodly supply of spare parts comes with it.

A few dings on the paint, which is now about 12 years old but overall in pristine shape. Everything works, it always starts and is a blast to drive.

I'm only selling it now as we have one too many cars for our small-ish driveway and garage. It's still registered and insured.

Now priced at $3,900. Send email to mrwadt (at) gmail.com if interested, and we can setup a time for a test drive.
