Introducing myself here. I'm located in northern (209 area), and have been driving a rotary since 2011.
Went to Formula Drift at Sear's Point in 2010, heard Joon Maeng's RX-8 bouncing like crazy off the rev-limiter sounding like gun-shots. From that point onward I researched everything I could about this "rotary" engine. I was hooked. The idea of a unique engine unlike anything else on the road was appealing to me, so I had to have one. After saving up selling lots of other stuff, I got an 1986 GXL RX-7 with a jdm turbo engine swapped in (na drivetrain still).
It looked something like this.

Eventually I swapped the entire drivetrain for a turbo 2 drivetrain out of this car.

Then lots of autocross was to be had. I have go-pro vids of my runs here.

Eventually I acquired an Isuzu NPR small intercooler. Its usually used for v-mounts, but I needed to keep the intercoler in stock location for SCCA autcross regs, so I tried to do an FMIC with shorter than your average fmic piping.

I went to two trackdays at Buttonwillow CW 13. Lots of fun. Although I was in novice group the first day, was able to get a (point-by) pass on a 458 spider. Of course I was annihilated on the straights. I have vids on my youtube page of this too.

Now for the sad part. On the way to SevenStock this year, the engine overheated in traffic and was pretty much done for. Coolant coming out the spark plugs. Was able to restart it, but it heated up fast after. Called it quits and had it towed to the hotel. You probably saw it parked in the corner. I was 15miles from making it. No problems at Buttonwillow on a hotter day, no problems up grapevine. Still need to figure out what happened.
Tearing the engine down now. Gonna finish pulling it over winter break.
