Are the dates correct; for some reason I thought you would be doing this a week earlier. You are doing it the same weekend as the Mitty at Road Atlanta? I was able to DGRR and the Mitty last year as they were on different weekends.

Thanks

Michael

I believe originally it was going to be a week earlier, but that is Easter weekend.

You're Nantahala Code is in your Event confirmations for DGRR 2014. I'll update the Hotel Promotions. I think Phil was going to talk to other hotels in the area.

Log into the site. Mouse over "Event Info" at the top of the website, and you'll see "Event Confirmations" at the bottom of the list.

Hmmm, the Mitty and DGRR on the same weekend. That might work well this time for me.

When is that Damn Dam photo usually done? Friday weather permitting right?

Yea, photo is usually on Friday:
Here's last year's Itinerary. This year should be similar.

Also, The Lodging Promotions page now knows if you've registered, so it will list all the current hotel promotions available to you. You don't need the confirmation page unless you want your invoice number and the amount you paid.

I registered early in the morning and Nantahala Village is already completely booked by people who were allowed early VIP registration. Maybe there is a legitimate reason for allowing a select group to have special privileges, but on the surface this looks like a bunch of elitist crap. I have been supporting this event for many years, and this is the first time that I have felt unwelcome. Please do not repeat this next year.

The dates on the confirmation page are from last year.

I have no say in that practice man. I think this may be more the case of people reserving a room before registering. Phil is checking the list to see who shouldn't have reserved a room. We've never fully booked the entire Nantahala Village in less than 2 weeks, so something is definitely a problem.

Which confirmation page? Because I thought I fixed that already...

I know that you just run the website, but hopefully those who are involved in that practice will read this. I understand if event volunteers or sponsors get a preference, but this year there is a problem as you stated above.

I registered around 0700CT 15NOV13, so you may have fixed it since then. Screenshot thumbnail attached.

By the way, I think this is the first year that the code worked for me right off the bat, and ironically I can't use it to get a room because there aren't any left.

I also registered for the event early yesterday AM, but due to getting busy at work didn't get around to booking my room at NVNC until just a few minutes ago.... Managed to get the LAST available lodging on their property - cabin #23. Agree with your comments regarding early VIP reservations, if that practice is going on please don't do it again next year. I can understand Phil & his volunteer staffers getting first crack at NV lodging, since they organize & run the event, but no one else should receive any preferential treatment.

I think part of the problem with NV is they have fewer rooms available to begin with because they sold off some of their properties when management changed hands last year?

What time did you try and rent a cabin? I got the last one on the lodge side at 1pm on 11/15.

I registered yesterday also and had the same issue with trying to reserve a cabin :( If the village idiots are allowing people to reserve without having registered already unfortunately theres not much that can be done about it at this point and it will cause issues in the community but I agree if it happened that way it sucks but its not on Phil. its on the village idiots to make it right.

I'm still gonna come but if the village wants to be that way I'll take my hard earned cash elsewhere

What I am really confused by is that I, along with at least two other people, have all been told they got the last cabin and at different times. I was told at 1pm Friday that I got the last thing they had on the lodge side. It just seems weird each person gets told they are getting the last one.

^Same here, how is it possible that a bunch of us calling at different times are getting the "last cabin/last room"? Unless someone had booked before and then cancelled?

I called NV yesterday right about noon. My first preference was a room in the lodge, and she told me all of them were sold out for DGRR. So then I asked her what properties (cabins, fireplace suites, whatever) does she still have open? She told me that on NV property, the only cabin left was #23, so I booked that. FWIW, she also told me there are a few other cabins & properties nearby that NV doesn't own, but that NV has arrangements with the property owners so she could book one of those for me if I wanted.

Yeah something is definently off. Adam posted at around 4pm Friday that someone had already booked #23 (where he stayed last year). Then you were able to book it Saturday.

Ugh, I hope NV didn't F-up on my reservation... They already charged the deposit for #23 on my CC.

Well reading some more on FB, it looks like Phil found out on Friday some stuff had been reserved improperly and announced more would open up. So your cabin was probably one. Just sucks that some folks got locked out of "their" cabins from last year due to this screw up lol

I called again for shits and giggles and was told everything was reserved and they all had registration codes. :(
