View Full Version : Phoenix7's "Local Shops That I Recommend" Thread

In anticipation of the regional forums I've decided to make this thread. I value great customer service and when I find a place that I feel has great service, great quality and a great price I make sure this person gets the recognition they deserve. I see shops come and go but finding a good, knowledgeable, HONEST person is hard and here is my way of saying thank you for a job well done.
We need to keep honest people in the business so everyone can benefit from it. It's win-win.
I will separate them by type of work and will add/edit it as I come across them.

I came in with an exhaust leak. I told him I thought the gaskets were bad and he said he wasn't going to take my word for it. HE looked and found that the gaskets were fine but the passenger's side muffler had a crack in the pipe right after the Y-PIPE. Welded it shut on the spot, checked for more leaks and installed new hangers within 15 minutes.
This man told my wife to come right under the car and check it out herself "this isn't man stuff only" and she appreciated that because too many people assume women are utterly clueless.
Friendly, knowledgeable, and good businessman at a great price.

"If we don't have it, no one does."
These guys have FC alternators in stock every time I need one. I've bought 4 through them already (in the past 7 years and 4+ FCs) and I'm always thoroughly satisfied. I recently bought an alternator and it was faulty. I brought the car in, the technician came out and tested it, went in and next thing I know they gave me a new one, no charge, no hassle, just the part I needed. I was back on the road within 20 minutes.
I would highly recommend them due to their customer service, knowledge and prices. You can't beat a rebuilt alternator for $85 (as of 2008).

I think a list of local shops is a great idea! Mind if other people post their recommendations in this thread?

That's fine. I wanted it to be central to the 408 area code but I don't see why not, as long as it's in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have requested for this thread to be moved to the WEST forum so it will eventually be moved to that region.
If you're not from this area then you can start your own thread in the corresponding region so your local rotards can get the same great service you got.

Good plan. I'll start one for the 417 area when I feel like getting off of my lazy ass.

East Bay OK? Cause there's PR Motorsports and Rick's Rotary over there.

do they install Haltechs? that's close enough for me. I have AAA with 100 mile towing so I'm still interested in good shops that I can trust with my car.

I'm not sure. I'm not in that deep yet. Here's their websites if you want to give them a call.

Here's some more. I'm not sure if they do haltech's, but they do mazda's for sure. I'm sure one of them does more than just maintenance.

I've been to Mr. Mazda and he charged $85/hr (cost me $4600 for a mazda reman with labor to drive in and out).
Rotorsports wants $99/hr and I have not received a call about haltechs yet.
The other 2 are too far for me. Thanks for the link.

I will add
Blast Racing Service USA.
Their Address is : 824 W.Southern Ave Orange, CA 92865
http://blastracing.blogspot.com/
Open at 10 am everyday except weekends. The owner Mr.Wakita is good with rotaries, and likes to work on them too. Pricing maybe a little on the higher side, but they are a larger shop, and you get what you pay for.
Not to mention they can do pretty much anything, machining, Power FC tuning, HKS F-CON V PRO Tuning (They are an HKS Pro-dealer).
They built a Turbo Rx8 a while back with a V PRO, making around 380-400 wheel horse, and it was a fun ride.
They also do a lot of custom work, Nissan Skyline GT-R, SR, VG, Toyota stuff too.

Friendly, knowledgeable and worth their hourly rate any day of the week. Went in for an oil cooler line replacement and Paul took care of a few other things for me. The car drives much better and it's stronger than ever.
