I bought the car with the intent to build it for a daily/dgrr car. I had the time when I got it, but being that I'm not going to make it to DGRR in this car (taking my 8 now instead) - I'm just going to sell this one.

I thought I could pull off having three cars in a condo area, but I really cant. Neighbors aren't thrilled with me doing bodywork in my garage and the "smell" of the rich rotary, lol...

Either way.. these are the details:

The Good:
Runs & Idles well (900-1000RPM after warm-up, cold start hovers at 1300-1500)
Brand new Falken tires (less than 300 miles on them)
Eibach front springs
MINT T2 seats
New front wheel bearings
New drivers side mirror
New intake manifold gaskets (not installed - read below)
New idler arm bushings (not installed)
New oil cooler crush washers (not installed - read below)

The Bad:
I started the bodywork as when I got the car, there really wasnt a straight panel on it, minus the doors.

Currently it has filler on the driver rear quarter (which I'm going to continue to work on until it sells), the header panel is bent but I have a straight one that goes to the new owner, needs passenger side fender and hood (I actually have a hood somewhere though if you want it)

The 5th & 6th ports are stuck from the car sitting w/ the prev owner. I planned on cleaning them and putting new gaskets on the car, but dont have time right now.

The oil cooler is leaking. I discovered that it looks like the oil cooler was never mounted correctly or the stock mounts broke. The leak is coming from what appears to be a missing crush washer (included with sale)

Um - thats really about it...

The car has 123K on it, runs and drives. Smokes when cold, but goes away once its warmed up (again from it sitting, the oil seals dried out - i've been running 20w50 and oil additive and it should clear up after another two oil changes). Starts better than my RX8 does! Compression is good...

I have $1,550 in the car, asking $1300 obo - cash talks as usual and I'd like a fast sale. I would like to see this car be finished and on the road, so please dont buy it to part out.

Located in Sterling, VA 20165 - I'll dig some pics up shortly... or you can check out the bodywork thread in the 1st gen area...

Yea - the faster it goes, the quicker I can get back to work on my FC...

But hey, its not a charity - I'll keep it if I have to :)

I wish I was getting a tax refund this year. :( My parents are in VA and I could have gotten them to haul it down here for me in June when my sister is getting married.

I would love to pick this up but I won't be up there for work until June 21st when I'll be at Hyperfest at Summit Point.

My parents are still up there in Springfield, VA. If it doesn't sell by then I'd love to come look at it. Maybe it would be painted at that point also? Of course the price could reflect that.

Lol - you already have two! But yes, if it doesnt sell I will continue to work on it and by June I'm sure it would be painted and the price would reflect that.

Its got a really nice interior now that I've replaced parts (even got new inner door handle plastic from mazda).

Rally Cross in the FB? We had a guy who did that at some of the rally-x events we used to go to.. he didnt do so well. We rally an FC in NASA ESRC though - so I guess I cant say much..

Well I have two, but none right now really.

The nice blue one blew its motor at an autocross. Something metal went through the engine and stuck the corner and side seal. Weird because all the seals were there and in place. Its down at Pettit being built now.

The white one is too rusty to run right now but hopefully it will be roadworthy after this weekend. There is an upcoming 18 mile rallysprint which may finish it off. With the mileage I predict a slow and painful death and maybe a 5.0 swap?

This would be more of a DD/AutoX car for the GF depending on how much it costs after paint. It all depends on what's in the cards at that point I am up there.

If you do make it out to Hyperfest look for the Grassroots Motorsports Magazine tent. I'll be there.

Basically, I did a final rough coat of filler on the quarter which I havent sanded down yet, but probably will this weekend (going to be nice!)

Skimmed drivers door and there are two spots on the hood where I was playing with colors to figure out what I was going to paint the car...

The interior is near perfect as I've been restoring it. Needs the rear plastic dyed back to gray (sun faded), and a factory radio (i have one, but not sure if it works yet). There is a little sun spot on the dash too which needs a little touch up. It has door pull plastic cups as well.

This was a restoration project that is about 70% there. Just needs the final sand down and paint to be a damn nice car. I do have the new header panel, just not installed....

I will continue to work on the car, but better believe, if I paint it before it sells, it'll look good and the asking $ goes up,lol...

June is coming up pretty quickly. =)

I am pretty interested as I am just about fed up with this white car.

I'm taking the car down for a bit to do some repair. Its still available to view, etc, but won't be running until later in June. I'm removing and replacing the oil cooler and lines. I fixed the 5th & 6th ports although my LIM apparently is leaking a bit so I've got to pull it back off again to reclean the mating surface, torque back down (must have had some grime there when I reinstalled it at 12:30am, lol).

Either way, once the lines are replaced this car should be 99% mechanically - the 1% is cruise which apparently the previous owner broke the vac line off and I'm not sure where it goes just yet.

If you still want it and can trailer it, feel free to hit me up... otherwise, stay tuned for updates.

Have it ready for the weekend of June 21st for Hyperfest... I'll throw in a years subscription...

Subscription? To what?

Probably will have it back together by then.. just need to source the parts to fix the oil leak. More than likely I'll replace the cooler and lines. Once I fix it, I'll be able to tune up the rest.

Oh damn it's not in my sig here. I work for Grassroots and Classic Motorsports Magazine. I am the same guy as hadagsl-se on the other forum.

I look forward to seeing the car. If you can't tell I am pretty interested.

P.S. Know of any good Jeep forums besides the obvious. I am looking to sell the TJ pretty soon. I just got it recently but it doesn't really fit me, I got a good deal on it but I don't really want it. It needs a top, windows, seats and a couple other things to be presentable. Its lead a hard life since about 2003, no real off roading just no top and living near the beach.

^ Did I meet you at a rally event in WV two years ago? You sound familiar. Grassroots was runnning a blue WRX I believe.

Honestly, I'm not a huge forum guru for Jeeps. I poke around our local club site: www.novajeepers.com but I dont post much. I love mine and jeeps have been in our family for years, but I'm not as much into it as I am 7s. Youl should be able to sell it fairly easily though since its a TJ :)

BTW - thought this was funny, but I'm wearing a Grassroots shirt right now!

You wouldn't have met me there but Per was running a Impreza a couple years ago.

I lived in Springfield, VA until January of this year when I started working for Grassroots. I made it out to some events and races but the car was down for a couple years waiting for paint after my little brother wrecked it and I was down at Radford.

Ah - Maybe it was Dan or something - I can't recall. My buddy and I worked crew for our Rally RX7 and met a really nice guy from Grassroots, had breakfast with 'em and got some tshirts and magazines from him.

Either way, If the car sells before June for some reason I'll probably still head up to hyperfest... maybe I should enter the 8, lol...
