Hey everyone! I'm Matt Trebacz aka Spaz, I'm currently 30 and I've been obsessed with the Rx7 since I was 12. My father has been running his own automotive shop for most of my life so I was always around some really amazing & rare vehicles. I can recall falling in love with the 1993 Rx7 when it came out & knowing one day, it would be mine!! At the risk of making my introduction extremely long... a lot can happen in 30 years haha!!
After having my first car, a 1990 integra totalled in 2003, I saved up for a new ride.. On that day in July of 2003 I drove to a car lot in my dad's loaner Geo metro wagon & there it was.. Still in pristine condition sat a 1987 Rx7 na completely stock. I invested probably around 10k into that car before it's demise in January 2006! I was at the time working two jobs since I was trying to pay off my 1993 Rx7 I found in September of 2005. When I lost my fc I knew I needed another haha. On July 7th of 2006 I drove to Nashville to pick up my 1991 Rx7 non turbo.
In 2006 I got beyond screwed when I let a shop in St. Louis called Street Speed handle my FD engine rebuild... I started reading up on the forums how to fix things myself, since I had a low post count no one would really answer anything if had already been asked before, so I was usually ignored on the rx7club. Not a big deal since I'm used to figuring things out. I managed to get my Fd running every once in awhile but now seems to have lost compression. I'm planning on doing the rebuild myself this time around so I have only me to blame.
Currently, I'm working on a Turbo II swap into my Fc & still in need of an ecu. I'm also rebuilding a couple Na 13b's in my spare time, always working always learning, doing whatever it takes to become a rotary master!!

Time to make some $$!!

The weather this winter has been nuts!! 75 one day 18 the next then 40 with heavy rain & 3 inches of snow in the same week... on top of everything, I lost my job that I've had for ten years... been so hard times lately, but I have been thinking of my Rx7's this whole time ;)
I'm glad that while I had a job I dumped most of my paychecks into my cars, knowing that it'll be worth it to do so... I hope I'm right hahaha!!

I realized I need to get my post count up as well so I might just sit here & babble for awhile... I'm incredibly attached to my cars, not gonna lie. Back when I was receiving RXTuner mags my favorite article was about the Deal's Gap Rotary Rally ;P I might need a new magazine haha. Every year since I tried to make it there but always either working or didn't have a running car... the times when my car was running & DGRR would be happening I'd be at work or wherever else wishing I was driving the Tail of the Dragon 318 turns in 11 miles!!! I always talked about with probably way too much excitement for never actually being there and seeing it for myself... I hope you all like story time hahaha

My Tale of the "Tail of the Dragon" 2011 ;)

Should have done this months ago while it was fresh in my mind, but I remember everything pretty clearly so it doesn't matter... anyways

We're going back in time, back to late 2010.... no robot maids, flying cars or any of that nonsense. I was "Manager" at a pizza shop, starting to sound like futurama hmm. I'm making pizzas and jumping in my freshly painted Rx7 to run these awesome pies to my favorite customers. Always taking the fastest routes and made sure to drive through the twisty roads on the way back for more. Christmas rolls around and I have a day off to go see my family, had a great time. Had to cut that visit short because of blizzard like weather in IL. I said my goodbyes and drove my 7 away in heavy snow. I stopped at a gas station before I head out of town. I remember I was completely alone on the interstate for miles the snow was so bad. At one point I came upon a slight left turn, been driving straight for miles & wasn't thinking of how fast I was going. Going close to 65 in the snow I was drifting across the interstate, from the fast lane to the opposite shoulder back to the fast lane to continue driving straight. I've had many close calls but that was a pucker moment. Eventually I made it home safe but it was intense. New years sucked and my 7 was having starting problems.. I decided to register for DGRR 2011! Next day my engine seized up... to be continued ;)

Yeah I joined RCC while I was at Deal's Gap last year :) it seriously changed my life. I felt at home there, the sounds of all the rotaries going up & down the mountains all night and day. Seeing a Repu for the first time blew my mind. I've got awesome pics from last year but nothing compares to how it was for me. I want to personally think the Tennessee crew for taking me up & down the Dragon for the first time in a 7! I'm proud to say my first trip on the tail was in a rotary ;) this year I plan on showing up in something rotary powered so I can at least keep up, the Hemi Magnum didn't cut it hahaha!! But yeah I plan on showing up on here more, just need to post pics but I can't do it with my phone... should be working on my car... it will happen soon
