View Full Version : Microtech LT8 for me........

Hi, I've been searching around about the microtech lt8 and i can't seem to find anything that answer the questions I have. It was purchased for an S4 turbo II (by previous owner) but I have an 1991 S5 converted to turbo. Is it possible to run this lt8 to my S5 and if so what do i need to do to have it run perfectly on mine? The set-up I have on my car is stock turbo injectors both primaries and secondaries. Stock intake plenums (upper and lower), stock top mount intercooler, I have a slight I would say a street port on my exhaust side on the housing. The intake ports AREN'T ported, custom air intake, and a old school racing beat turbo exhaust with no cats. Sorry if that is a bit much but anyone who has helpful input would be greatly appreciated. Oh and to make this clear I'm planning on using this EMS as a replacement for the stock computer on my fresh rebuilt engine that I'm currently putting together as we speak. I plan on keeping the car for a long time so reliability mods are going to come first (bigger radiator, bigger oil cooler, bigger oil pan, etc......). The car is going to be my daily for the meantime till I find a beater (with occasional track days like auto-X, drag, and HPDE schools)
Thanks in advance for your time!

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread:o

So was it setup and actually run on the S4, or just bought for it (i.e. unterminated harness)?

I don't recommend doing this, especially if this is your first experience with this sorta thing...
Having to constantly adjust as the VE of the engine changes through the break-in is a ROYAL PITA.
It's bad enough you gotta try and dial in a number of maps...

I would recommend breaking in the engine on the stock ECU, and then converting over to the EMS after the engine settles down.

even with the current exhaust and intake set-up? I'm just worried about it spooling up too early as I gradually break-in the engine. I have studied the link on FC3S Pro but what would you do to be on the safe side aside from the stock ecu? Also about the ecu harness, do you understand what I am asking for that?

dude the s4 and s5 is not really that different on a microtech harness, different injector plugs, different coolant temp sensor plugs, etc... but overall you only have:

4 injectors
1 coolant temp
1 air temp
leading coil
trailing coil
TPS

and that's all I can think off. Not too hard really. Get some of those quick cut cut wire stripping pliers and some Knipex professional crimping pliers, and a heat gun, should be done in no time.

most of the time you can just use heat shrink crimps and convert most of the plugs over. Microtech has a wiring diagram and installation guide on their website.

from what i know it didn't get set-up for the car but he it is meant for the rx7 so i don't have to send it out to Australia to get re-flashed for it

There really is no way to run the omp with the microtech I believe. You might be able to keep just the wiring to the omp and keep the stock ecu side by side, but then you will still need to share the TPS signal, bc you use the full range tps that the s5 omp normally uses.

Best way would be to use an s4 front cover, and mount the s4 omp on. Then you will still need an s4 turbo throttle body to butcher with an s5 turbo one so that you can connect the s4 omp linkage.

I got mine to work that way. (S5 TB with s4 OMP)
