I would like to announce project Dark Horse. This project has been in the planning stages for about a year or so, but K2 racing/LoKo racing have very recently approved the project, so construction can begin!

This project has 3 goals;

first, to use up some of the junk laying around the shop.
second to replace my blue 87 GXL as a street car.
third to give the local porsche guy in NASA's TTC class a run for his money.

the car; my friend kenny's girl friend made him buy a 4 seat car, which turned out to be a 91 honda civic which turned out to be such a POS, that all of kenny's friends got together in secret, stole the honda, and completely redid the whole car in secret and then gave it back as a surprise.

anyways, since the Rx7 was kind of dead, and he needed to get an engine built, i took the Rx7 shell as payment. its a 91 FC coupe, sunroof. it came with a rebuilt FD engine, Pko's old FC/REW subframe, and most of the junk that goes on top of the engine

in the shop i've got a pile of turbo transmissions, diff, axles, subframes etc etc etc etc etc etc! the goal is to spend $0, although our budget is about 2k, probably it will be more like 3k.

projected mods list;

engine:
13B-REW, stock injectors, stock FD ECU.
Turbo will start as a stock S4, but will become a hybrid S5, either H or V compressor, t04 O trim turbine wheel, or clipped stock, or stock.
in TTC, we need to be around 2800lbs, and 215hp....

RB 3" DP into K2 bolt on cat (we have a jig to make a cat that interchanges with the RB 3" presilencer, california...)
cat back is an HKS sport.

we've decided it should have a radiator and a fuel pump, :hurray:

intercooler is undecided, i have an old greddy kit i used on the 20B, so this will probably get reused, the piping is kind of crap for the REW though.

@2800lbs competition weight, its keeping the PS, and maybe the AC too

ACT flywheel/clutch, into a turbo drivetrain.

suspension:

front are inverted bilsteins in custom housings
rear right now it GAB shocks, probably switch to koni's
K2RD camber plates/coil overs.
springs right now are 650/300, but that's just because its what was on the shelf, expect something like 400/250
toe eliminator bushings
K2RD adjustable lateral links in the rear
competition diff/trans mounts

brakes:

undeicded; either stock 4 piston with good pads, or i could go with the willwood setup, and dual master cylinders with a balance bar.

wheels:

street; whatever i can steal from my friends....

race: we're allowed an 8" wide rim, with a 245 tire, so paul wants to run 18's. i think in the front we'll end up with something smaller, just to make it fit. tires will be hoosiers, wheels will be rotas, they sponsor us.

pics are going to be a little slow, the car is UGLY! first pic is the finished honda, second pic is the FC, about a year ago, car came in black primer, and dirt, and yes thats a mattress on the roof

we're planning a movie.... i think our hero the car will get tired of watching all the other mazda race cars, and then go to the gym.....

787B was at the historics again this weekend, its been there every year since 2001, its such a poster child for how the rotary should be, the engine just got rebuilt this summer, but the last one went from 1991 to 2011, that's a LOT of track days and demo laps and stuff!
