So my cousin is looking at buying a 2005 Rx8 from an older guy who says he's selling because he doesnt drive it enough. Claims to have only 50k on the car. He's asking 9k for the car but says he'll sell for less.

First off this seems like a pretty low price for this car. I dont own an 8 but correct me if im wrong.

Second, what kind of issues should he look out for. I remember reading that there were some ignition issues until 06. Is this correct? If so what are other common problems??

Thanks guys,
Kyle

I think there was something about the clutch pedal too, if I'm not mistaken.

That does seem like a pretty low price for an 05 with so few miles.

Oh i think youre right about that.. something like the clutch pedal bracket braking i think??? Isnt that one covered through recall though?

Also i checked the posting (he found it on Craigslist) He's selling with a salvage title which would explain the price i suppose.. I told my cousin to get ahold of the guy and find out why it has a salvage title.

well mazdas depreciate quickly.. i only paid 12k for my 04 with 27k on it and in absolutely MINT condition. Ignition issues can be fixed with replacing the coils and plugs and there is a free replacement recall on the clutch pedal assembly due to faulty strengthening welds... the issues stated can be fixed with a quick trip to the dealorship. if I were you id tell the owner to get these issues fixed along with PCM updates and then it should be a good car to buy.

Ok. Ill pass this info onto him. Thanks for the help. Should there be any real worry about the salvage title?
