OK,

I was asked by the organizer of Mitty to see if we want to park in the grass with gazillion Miatas and other Mazdas or we want to park aside and park on the pavement.

Post your thoughts and vote!

Need a little more info, i.e. where are the pavement or grass areas located?

I haven't been to Road Atlanta in many years but recall the infield having some rough areas that wouldn't be friendly to a low car. But if they're gonna put us in some out of the way paved parking lot, no thanks.

If I were Mazda I would want some nice Rx7's of each generation front and center in the paddock but something tells me they don't value our attendance very much. I could be completely off base on this though.

^Agreed. I think parking location trumps surface - makes no sense being parked off in the boonies away from all the fun regardless of the surface. One other plus for pavement is that if it rains, we won't by driving in a mud pit.

I totally agree, location would be more determining than surface.

I suspect most of the mazda corrals will be up around the CMS/GRM tent which
is grassy parking just off of paved roads. These areas are pretty level to gently
sloping and can easily be traversed by lowered vehicles (well except the ones
that can't go over a normal driveway curb without scraping).

The area where the OGTA group will be parked is similiar but you do have to
be careful driving in and out as there are a couple of gullies that can trip
you up. If you come over our way we will help you get in and out without
issues.

One of the guys helping with the mazda corrals is actually camping with the
OGTA group. Maybe he can help us out. I can't wait to see all you guys come
roaring in on Sunday morning.

Guys, unfortunately it looks like paved vs. grass.

Some of the vendors are wanting to come with their race cars and it can't go on the grass.. Hope you guys dont mind.. I'll find out the location.

I was just told, "You will be located next to the DIY autotune's mega meet."

I have no idea where that is.. Anyone can point it out to me?

I think it will be in the vendor/corral area just after crossing the Suziki
bridge somewhere. This is the area I was talking about. It could also be over
behind the general infield parking which is a nice flat grassy area behind the
paved parking area. The paved parking area usually has the race cars and
their trailers there. I circled the vendor/car corral area in red on this pic.

In other words, their putting us with the ricers. :icon_no2:

Not too many ricers at this thing. Mostly older cars and race fans. You won't
see a lot of buzzy hondas around. Besides it costs $$ to even get in to park
at the infield and we all know how cheap ricers are.

Thanks for the info t_g_farrell!

I guess that seems pretty good place to park. If that's the case, I'm going to pick paved vs. grass.

Looks good to me. I'm not picky on parking surface.
