STREETPOWER RX8 build up
Dyno testing performed by the Streetpower crew on a Dyno Dynamics digital dyno
Engine stock dyno at 158 rwhp with DSC fuse pulled
We did 10 pulls back to back with fuse pulled and with the switch turned off I got a more consistent number at 158 rwhp with fuse pulled.
With switch off I had hp numbers range from 149 to 162 but was never consistent. I did 6 pulls and all the numbers were different.
With fuse pulled 3 out of 4 pulls gave us 158.9, 158.3, 158.7 and 159.
Sprint Booster:
Installed netted no change in throttle response or hp
The engine seam to rev faster but no hard evidence there was any improvements to justify using this device.
There was 2 settings hi and low we made another 10 pulls to verify but no change so we removed it
Cobb AP installed we made a + 10 hp increase to the rear wheels with their stage 1 map but that map is unsafe we saw air fuel go as high as 15.1:1 AF at the top end
Stock with Cobb 168rwhp
Next 10 pulls is with the HKS Hipower cat back
We gained +8 rwhp which averaged out throughout the 10 pulls
Stock with Cobb and HKS cat back 176rwhp

Next up will be a Steve Kan tune in April and a racing beat midpipe
Also got full suspension
Gtspec full bracing frt back and under
HSD coil overs
Progress sway bars frt and rear
Endlinks?
Track rims and tires
Weight savings

What type of dyno is that? Pretty amazed you saw 10whp with the Cobb stage one. I lost HP with it, lol. How much TQ did you make on those pulls?

What kind of racing are you trying to do with the car? Compression good? Just curious, sorry for all the ?s...

I never would have thought there would be any HP diff on disabling the DTC system we didn't pull any fuses when WE3RX7 and I dyno'd in jan. I may install my cobb if WE3RX7 can make any more power but just playing with it on the street I felt a loss in power so I uninstalled it.

dyno dynamics digital dyno
i will pull up the charts and advise on the torque
the car is a shop car so it will see many road race tracks with me or with a customer
did not do a comp check but the car only has 46000 kms

well the stock ecu was running rich i was seeing af drop to 11.5 from around 5500 to 9000 rpm
the cobb base map leaned the af out to 12.5 at 1 point then leaned out to almost 15.1 around 8500 rpm then dumps fuel to 11.9 till 9800 rpm
Steve Kan is coming up in april so we will be able to clean it up and hopefull make the engine more reliable may make some mire power

this is all pretty interesting. i'll be watching it closely.

i do have a few questions if you'd be able to indulge me.
1. why did you choose HSD coilovers? (your conjecture is fine :))
2. are these the original coils (46,000 km)? if not, how many kms on them?
3. do you plan to upgrade the coils anytime soon?
4. have you been monitoring EGTs, and if so, what's the delta between stock AFRs and the Cobb AFRs?

thanks, and good luck.

9800RPM? Am I missing something here... you still have a cat and stock ECU right? If you've only run the Cobb Stage 1 base map, the redline hasn't moved and won't let you ride it out to 9800RPM?

The Cobb Stage 1 map was a bit dangerous, but I never saw AFs that high, craziness.

Good luck with the next tunes.. I'm curious to see where you go with this.

using HSD because no cost for the part
yes original coils and 46000kms
i havea set of LS2 coils to install later on
have not monitored egt

well it did

In the image of the dyno chart, it only reads up to 8K RPM. Can you show me a chart or logs that show it at 9800RPM?

I know I sound like an ass, but I'd prefer people who read this who are new to RX8s, etc don't think their cars can rev out to 9800....

good Lord, those suspension pieces look good. i particularly like the GT Spec pieces. you're giving me a glimpse into what my 8 could be. :)
