I just bought a fiberglass GP sports kit. The front bumper is damaged, and I was going to document my repair of it in this thread. I will update with pictures and results of my work as time goes by.
Right now, I am looking for good quality supplies.
To do fiberglass work, I was told I need:
Stranded fiberglass sheet
resin and hardener
wax paper
3M short strand fiberglass filler
Sander
Sand paper
Dremel and carving bits.
Pictures of the kit. The rear bumper and side skirts have some minor cracks and stuff, but the major damage is on the front bumper.
The bumper went through hell:
Not only did the bottom lip get smashed multiple times to the point of warping, but the bumper got struck by a downed power line and melted out the resin a bit, so the section only has mostly fiber in it.
There is also the stupid sheetmetal ducting that was RIVITED :smash: to the bumper, and it was shoddy as fuck.
The side skirts were cut in half in order to fit a widebody car, but that never got done, and then I bought them.
